ROLE

 

The EMEA Services Delivery function delivers professional and managed services to Insight’s clients across a broad range of technology and software offerings, delivers a scaled and consistent client experience, and employs methodologies through the following centres of excellence; 

  

  • The Customer Operations team provides high quality customer support across assigned regions from multiple delivery centres. 

  • The Engineering team provides automated and scripted innovative migration and implementation activities in order to achieve maximum efficiency, consistency, and performance. 

  • The Licence Consulting team provides expertise in optimisation and compliance services to clients on-premises or in the Cloud whilst maintaining cost efficiencies and savings. 

  • The Service Design & Delivery team, and each of its subfunctions, leads on designing client solutions in partnership with Insight’s clients before planning and executing end -to-end engagements. 

  • The Digital Innovation team explores and drives first-of-type innovations around technology including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Advanced Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), Connected Sensors, and Robotics. 

  • The Technology Solutions Group, through technology and business practice leadership, takes responsibility for the overall service strategy, and subsequent solution, and services development by a team of solution developers, product designers, and agile leaders. TSG also governs the repeatable processes, tools, and automation underpinning Insight’s service delivery. 

  

Complementing each of the centres of excellence is the Service Delivery Management team, located in every country, which manages the client experience and ensures a truly client -centric approach across EMEA, and the Services Operations & Transformation team which drives operational excellence and business improvements across all areas within the Services Delivery function. 

  

The Application Solutions Architect resides within the Service Design & Delivery area of the EMEA Services Delivery function, specifically within the Consulting team. 

  

The Application Solutions Architect, a domain architect, is a specialist with deep knowledge and niche expertise in the field of Application Development and acts a supporting role to the Enterprise Solutions Architect. They are responsible for leading the technical presales of Application Development and Application Modernisation offerings, and drive the overall strategy, performance, and growth of the EMEA Application Services practice by working closely with the Technology Lead, Practice Manager, local Sales leadership teams, and wider EMEA Services function. 

 

The Application Solutions Architect builds strategic relationships with engineering and development resources in order to design and architect new solutions based on multi-Cloud and other technologies, they also act as the local ‘technical expert’ with partners to lead sales offerings and deliver value via a portfolio of service delivery engagements optimised to accelerate solution builds and client wins. 

  

In addition, the Application Solutions Architect uses comprehensive modern application engineering techniques and methods to support business decisions for Insight’s clients. By leveraging cloud native solution and secure-by-design approaches, the Application Solutions Architect helps Insight’s clients to modernise their applications and maximise the benefits of cloud technologies through a continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment (CI/CD) pipeline methodology. 

 

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Act as the ‘Applications expert’ and lead the technical solution development for new presales Application Development and Application Modernisation development opportunities. 

  • Work closely with the sales team to develop and execute selling strategies and direct large proposal efforts by leading virtual teams and collaborating with local and global resources. 

  • Support pre-sales and business development activities to take shape by communicating proposed solutions with client executives and architects, interact with senior programme/client architects where required. 

  • Seek to understand and evaluate client business needs and industry trends in depth to develop trusted advisor relationships with clients and align solutions based upon Insight’s key differentiators. 

  • Define and execute the Proof of Concept (POC) to demonstrate the value of the Applications solution to the client. 

  • Gather and analyse requirements from large, complex client environments and perform research and investigation activities to identify and create thorough, accurate technical solution proposals. 

  • Assess and define the Application architecture principles with the client, also develop and implement the client-approved solution. 

  • Design conceptual architecture and technical solutions, direct efforts toward defining technical, operational and user requirements including high-level design, statements of work, service design, and bills of materials. 

  • Prepare cost estimates for Application Development and Application Modernisation solutions including professional and managed services, licensing, and hardware. 

  • Manage and review work of teams across all phases of the project (Plan, Build and Manage) in one or more projects, ensure offshore resources are utilised and leveraged appropriately, and project quality meets standards through KPI identification and testing plan. 

  • Own partnership with cross-functional technology and design teams to ensure consistent, beneficial client interaction and solution delivery. 

  • Proactively deliver strategic messages and roadmaps to new and existing clients and lead client workshops and requirements discovery sessions, as well as build relationships with opportunity channel partners to enable collaboration. 

  • Support with business value assessment and business case development and provide solution fit assessment against the clients requirements. 

  • Contribute to sales effectiveness by identifying issues that may need to be addressed, provide information and commentary pertinent to deliberations, recommend options and courses of action, and implement directives. 

  • Maintain and advance deep technical skills and knowledge on application development and Cloud-based development, keep up to date with market trends and competitive insights, and share knowledge and best practice within the technical community. 

  • Act as the technical ‘point of escalation’ during the delivery of the Application Development and or Application Modernisation project. 

  • Contribute to the EMEA Application Modernisation Offering and standardisation as the technical ‘Application expert’. 

  • Make recommendations to the design authority in order to create new standards based on any bespoke solutions created during a sales engagement. 

  • Maintain close relationships with the standards development function and provide input in to the into the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and best practices.

  • Solution and Services development - New Services designed, documented, and aligned with the solution areas, marketing, and sales enablement activity 

  • Services department profitability - Services practice/client P&L business delivering 100% against annual financial plan (Revenue and GP) 

 

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Previous experience working in a presales, consulting, and or technical architecture role 

  • High level of written and spoken English 

  • Ability to work both independently and within teams, including leading teammates in virtual teams, with a focus on our culture and values 

  • Experience of Cloud platform and architectures – one or more of AWS, Azure, Google 

  • Understanding of the AWS services, market segments, customer base, and industry verticals 

  • Deep awareness and understanding of cloud, mobile, IoT and integration solution designs and trends, especially within Enterprise Cloud environments 

  • Highly credible individual who can interact and advise C-Suite level clients how IT can deliver to deliver business benefit to their organisations 

  • Experience working with global teams on projects and working with offshore teams to facilitate project work 

  • Experience of communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form 

  • Advanced skills in analysing, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining application code in a variety of contexts 

  • Advanced skills in developing client-based and/or web-based software solutions 

  • Demonstrated experience about application development, complex code development, application testing, component design 

  • Previous experience consulting to external clients on complex projects, including in leadership roles 

 

 

LOCATION

 

The position is based in Netherlands, main offices are located in Apeldoorn and Amsterdam. Possibility for hybrid working, remote with occasional visits to the office and client sites.
