ROLE
The Application Solutions Architect is a specialist in the field of Application Development and acts a supporting role to the Enterprise Solutions Architect. They are responsible for leading the technical presales of Application Development and Application Modernisation offerings, and drive the overall strategy, performance, and growth of the EMEA Application Services practice by working closely with the Technology Lead, Practice Manager, local Sales leadership teams, and wider EMEA Services function.
The Application Solutions Architect designs, architects and leads the delivery of new solutions based on cloud technologies, containers, DevOps and continuos integration helping Insight’s clients to modernise their applications and maximise the ROI on their IT investments.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years of experience working in a consulting, and or technical architecture role. At least 2 years of pre-sales experience.
- High level of written and spoken English & Dutch
- Strong experience in the design and delivery of Cloud Native applications on one or more of Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform.
- Previous experience consulting to external clients on complex projects, at least 2 years in a technical leadership role such as technical team lead or solution architect.
- Experience working with global teams on projects and working with offshore teams to facilitate project work.
- Strong knowledge of at least one framework between .NET framework, .NET core or Java Enterprise edition. Knowledge of at least one programming language between C# or Java. Also, exposure to additional languages such as Python and Go is nice to have.
- Strong experience in development and design of Web Applications, REST, SOAP and development and design of web APIs. Experience in design and implementation of Microservices is nice to have.
- Hands on experience in containerization. Nice to have knowledge of Kubernetes either on-prem or as a cloud PaaS services such as AKS or EKS.
- Preferred experience in at least one frontend framework between React, Angular or Vue.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the ‘Applications expert’ and lead the technical solution development for new pre-sales Application Development and Application Modernisation development opportunities.
- Work closely with the sales team to develop and execute selling strategies and direct large proposal efforts by leading virtual teams and collaborating with local and global resources.
- Support pre-sales and business development activities to take shape by communicating proposed solutions with client executives and architects, interact with senior programme/client architects where required.
- Seek to understand and evaluate client business needs and industry trends in depth to develop trusted advisor relationships with clients and align solutions based upon Insight’s key differentiators.
- Define and execute the Proof of Concept (POC) to demonstrate the value of the Applications solution to the client.
- Gather and analyse requirements from large, complex client environments and perform research and investigation activities to identify and create thorough, accurate technical solution proposals.
- Assess and define the Application architecture principles with the client, also develop and implement the client-approved solution.
- Design conceptual architecture and technical solutions, direct efforts toward defining technical, operational and user requirements including high-level design, statements of work, service design, and bills of materials.
- Prepare cost estimates for Application Development and Application Modernisation solutions including professional and managed services, licensing, and hardware.
- Manage and review work of teams across all phases of the project (Plan, Build and Manage) in one or more projects, ensure offshore resources are utilised and leveraged appropriately, and project quality meets standards through KPI identification and testing plan.
- Own partnership with cross-functional technology and design teams to ensure consistent, beneficial client interaction and solution delivery.
- Proactively deliver strategic messages and road maps to new and existing clients and lead client workshops and requirements discovery sessions, as well as build relationships with opportunity channel partners to enable collaboration.
- Support with business value assessment and business case development and provide solution fit assessment against the clients requirements.
- Contribute to sales effectiveness by identifying issues that may need to be addressed, provide information and commentary pertinent to deliberations, recommend options and courses of action, and implement directives.
- Maintain and advance deep technical skills and knowledge on application development and Cloud-based development, keep up to date with market trends and competitive insights, and share knowledge and best practice within the technical community.
- Act as the technical ‘point of escalation’ during the delivery of the Application Development and or Application Modernisation project.
- Contribute to the EMEA Application Modernisation Offering and standardisation as the technical ‘Application expert’.
- Make recommendations to the design authority in order to create new standards based on any bespoke solutions created during a sales engagement.
- Maintain close relationships with the standards development function and provide input in to the into the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and best practices.
