Architect - 5G/PLTE (RAN)

This is a solutions delivery focused role but you will also have some responsibilities in supporting the pre-sales process as a subject matter expert (SME).


What you’ll do at Insight:


  • Serve as SME for mobility solutions: Multi-vendor 5G, PLTE/CBRS, and WiFi.
    • Core technical domain will be in 5G/PLTE/CBRS with a focus on Radio Access Networks (RAN, O-RAN, vRAN)
    • Secondary technical domain 801.11 WiFi
  • Perform assessments, feasibility studies, and participate in customer white boarding and vision workshops
  • Participate in the specification of customer requirements, use case development, and developing solutions.
  • Develop Architectures, designs and configurations
  • Manage the planning, implementation and operation of customer network projects from both technical and communication aspects.
  • Deploy and integrate mobility systems and solutions
  • Mentor other resources and at times act as a lead for your team.
  • Assist sales team in identifying and closing opportunities through customer meetings and presentations.


What you’ll need to join Insight:

  • Extensive understanding of 5G/PLTE Core solutions, architecture, and security
  • Software-defined networking and network functional virtualization as applied to 5G architectures. 
  • Virtualization and orchestration techniques and technologies
  • O-RAN architecture with focus on RAN intelligent controller (RIC)
  • 5G, cloud, and zero-trust security vulnerabilities and architectures
  • Understanding of mobile enterprise use cases, deployment, architecture, and implementation for 4G/5G private networks and virtual private networks.
  • Installation and design of indoor/outdoor DAS, outdoor tower, neutral host platforms, large campus networks a plus
  • Knowledge of 4G LTE/5G/UMTS EPC Core and IMS Architecture and interface standards and management systems.
  • Knowledge of 4G LTE/5G/UMTS call/data flows.
  • Hands-on experience with mobile edge compute, network function virtualization technology and related systems (Centos, VMWare)
  • Design and deployment of Fixed Wireless Access
  • Deep knowledge of QOS
  • Experience with Core and EPC engineering including MME, HSS, P/S gateways, edge computing, routers
  • SIM/e-SIM card provisioning and Management
  • 8+ years implementing and troubleshooting 5G/4g/LTE/CBRS cellular technologies
  • 5+ years Implementing any of these: Cisco, Meraki, or Aruba (HPE) WiFi technologies
  • Experience performing wireless site surveys and designs with tools such as Ekahau is a plus Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline or demonstrated performance in a technical work environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, present and articulate strategies across various audiences; sales, marketing, partners, clients, consultants, executive leaders (internal and external).
  • Familiarity and/or experience around Cisco ISE or Aruba ClearPass are a plus.
  • Experience and certifications in other networking disciplines such as route/switch or security are a plus
  • Experience with Python and Ansible preferred
  • Experience using DevOps tools such as Ansible and Git
