Business Development Mgr-Microsoft

The Microsoft Business Development Manager works hand-in-hand with Client Executives, Market Leaders, Partners and key internal resources to grow and facilitate new and renewal Microsoft software & Cloud solution sales opportunities nationally. 


Focus for this role will be on achieving sales and profit goals through net new sales resulting from direct client interface, on-site visits, account planning, partner teaming and engagement, as well as solution development and implementation. The primary function of a Microsoft BDM is to develop and drive Cloud Solution Provider opportunities to closure and expand those opportunities by leading with Cloud Services Solutions. Microsoft BDM’s will work internally to design and recommend sales and marketing programs and assist in short-term and long-term cloud sales strategies within their assigned territory. 



  • Drive the Solution – You’ll pursue new opportunities in existing customers who have not purchased Insight’s Microsoft Cloud software & services where our award-winning delivery teams can provide innovative solutions to our clients that solve business needs.  

  • Be an Expert – You’ll present and sell the latest Microsoft technology in the cloud. You’ll effectively communicate and present the Insight value proposition to all executive levels of an organization.  You’ll lead negotiations and be responsible for overcoming objections to capture new Microsoft Cloud opportunities.  You’ll develop and maintain a strong knowledge of leading industry trends in relation to Cloud solutions. 

  • Build New Relationships – You’ll sell to new clients while deepening your relationships with existing clients in order to become their trusted advisor for repeat business.  You’ll work closely with our Client Executives and partners to develop relationships that will drive mutually beneficial business for both Insight and Microsoft. 

  • Deliver Results – You’ll develop and pursue an overall territory plan to maximize Microsoft cloud opportunities and leverage Insight’s integrated solution offerings within key accounts while maintaining a 2.5X pipeline in our CRM tool.  You’ll present a Quarterly Business Review for Insight leadership. 



  • 2+ years of selling cloud (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) solutions and services to mid-market customers 

  • Experience working in a matrix sales model with other Client & Solutions Sales Executives 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft cloud solution provider services pertaining to Azure and 365. 

  • Prior experience selling complete cloud solutions including professional, consulting, and managed services preferred.   

  • Industry Expertise: Be an expert in industry trends including competitive and market dynamics, product, licensing and technology trends. 

  • College degree or equivalent preferred. 

  • Microsoft Licensing experience preferred, specifically around the Cloud Solution Provider program.  

  • Strong analytical skills are required; must be proficient with Microsoft Office; able to manipulate large, complex Excel spreadsheets. 

  • 3+ years recent LAR or GSI industry sales/marketing experience. 

  • Microsoft Sales Certifications preferred.  Will be required to pass and maintain sales certifications. 

  • Proven record of success achieving/exceeding sales targets and goals. 

  • Ability to take initiative and manage time effectively. 

  • Excellent communication, presentation and organization skills. 

  • High level of commitment to exceptional customer service and relationship building. 

  • Ability to deliver results and demonstrate strong teamwork skills.
