Service Technician- Printer Deployment Technician

Services Technician (Deployment) - Contract






The primary role of a deployment technician is to build, prepare, and deploy print devices within client owned environments.  Deployment technicians are also responsible to troubleshoot and resolve incidents resulting from deployment activities. A deployment technician primarily performs IMAC type activities and duties.



Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Follow daily schedules and perform daily tasks as assigned.
  • Able to work outside of regular working hours as tasks require.
  • Follow documentation including Knowledge Base articles and Technical Alerts.
  • Deploy net new printers and MFP’s.
  • Refresh existing printers and MFP’s.
  • Perform in-service training to end users as required.
  • Remove and decommission equipment. Deliver to definitive hardware store.
  • Remove refuse for environmental disposal and ensure work areas are kept clean.
  • Clean, test, repair and prepare re-deployable equipment as required.
  • Ensure necessary paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time. Ensure close attention to detail.
  • Move equipment from location to location and install as required.
  • Update client I.T. Service Management ticketing systems and perform other data entry duties as required.
  • Apply Best Practices (ITIL), based methodology to Problem Management, Incident Management & Change Management disciplines.
  • Ensure SLA’s are achieved and client expectations are met (or exceeded).
  • May be required to participate in support of team during non-core business hours using cell phone.
  • Troubleshoots basic equipment problems and refers more complex problems to experienced staff during and after deployment. Provide on-site hardware Printer technical support to clients.
  • Maintains accurate records for service calls completed, travel time and mileage as required.
  • Relationships
  • Share knowledge and experiences to assist with the learning of colleagues throughout the department.
  • Respond to client inquiries/issues that come through via email, phone, or client ticketing systems in a professional manner.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and vendors.
  • Escalate to the team lead within 20 minutes if a resolution to an incident is not identified.
  • Work well within the team environment and dynamics.
  • Participate & contribute to service improvement plans.

  • Constantly promote the Health and Safety approach within the department, ensuring that all necessary preventative and corrective Health and Safety actions are taken as required.

  • Comptia A+ (Within 6 months of employment)






Education and/or Experience:

  • Completion of High School Diploma.
  • Strong hardware knowledge.
  • ITIL, CompTIA A+, CompTIA PDI+, and hardware vendor certifications would be an asset.
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility for problem resolution.
  • Be part of a team working toward accomplishing a common goal.
  • Work in a team or alone with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Work at locations outside of core business location.
  • Physical activities will include Lifting & moving of Printers and MFPs.

Office environment with computer work.  May have extensive periods of sitting, typing and phone use (may include headset).  May need to lift up to 10 lbs. Travel, i.e. driving.
