About the role

Insight's Finance organization is transforming toward AI-enabled, insight-driven operations, and the AI Operations team ("Thundercats") leads that work. As our Finance AI & Automation Intern, you help Finance teammates find manual, repetitive, or error-prone work and replace it with Microsoft Copilot-assisted workflows, low-code automations, and analytics that hold up to audit. 

This is a build-and-ship internship. Over ten weeks you move from shadowing Finance teams and mapping their processes, to designing and building a solution, to deploying it as a true production tool that keeps delivering value after you leave. You are also a live case study: the Friction Log and Decision Log you keep all summer shape how Insight defines the AI-augmented Finance teammate of the future.

What you’ll do:

• Analyze Finance processes to identify manual effort, rework, or bottlenecks suitable for AI or automation support. 
• Design and build scoped solutions (Microsoft Copilot-assisted workflows, low-code automations, analytics templates) under the guidance of assigned business and AI/automation mentors. 
• Document processes and solutions with clear inputs, outputs, validation steps, and ownership so they are auditable and sustainable. 
• Measure impact: time savings, quality improvements, throughput, and adoption. 
• Partner with Finance teammates to gather requirements, test solutions, and incorporate feedback. 
• Keep two running artifacts from day one: a Friction Log (every point where work was manual, repetitive, or where AI failed or needed verification) and a Decision Log (every point that required human judgment the AI could not supply). 
• Present your work through demos, written summaries, and a final capstone readout to Finance leadership and AI Operations stakeholders. 

What we’re looking for:

• Rising senior (must have a graduation date of May 2028) pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, MIS, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or a related field. 
• Strong foundational Excel skills and comfort working with data. 
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail. 
• Ability to clearly document work and communicate findings. 
• Interest in AI, automation, or process improvement in Finance.
