Director of Sales Compensation

As a Director, Sales Incentives, you’ll manage the design of Insight’s sales incentive plans and subsequent administration of Insight’s commission and bonus payment processing to sales personnel based on incentive plan provisions.  In addition, you’ll own the administration of sales quotas. Job duties include aligning plan design with company strategic objectives, supporting commission and bonus payment accuracy and completeness, balancing staffing needs with cost controls, and ensuring that policies, procedures, and programs are in alignment with the Insight’s overall strategic objectives, compensation philosophy and Insight Finance vision.  

While performing this role, you will verify and follow through, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, of commission and bonus payments as outlined in the plans. Resolve reconciliation issues quickly and accurately. Audit information needed to track pay metrics. Utilize existing tools, including spreadsheets, ERP system (SAP), Anaplan Sales Incentive module and dedicated reports and systems to gather data for payment calculation or analysis. Contribute to the development or improvement of systems to effectively track or capture data.  Drive accurate and timely quotas.  Have a bias toward action and a hunger for results.


What you’ll do at Insight:


  • Oversee day-to-day activities of our NA sales compensation team such as incentive planning & quota setting, policy adherence, dispute resolution, and ensuring accurate/timely payment processing for sales commissions
  • Serve as key sales incentive advisor and partner to sales leaders—to integrate GTM (Go to Market), business needs, challenges, and goals—into developing creative and impactful compensation solutions that scale
  • Develop internal financial business cases and make recommendations to senior leadership to solve business problems that support various sales transformation activities
  • Determine best course of action for exceptions to policy, ensuring the business follows policy and any required deviation is properly approved and documented
  • Partner with Finance, HR, & Legal to develop and administer sales compensation policies and procedures that align to business requirements
  • Evaluate sales compensation incentive results to determine plan effectiveness and partner with senior leadership to implement corrective actions
  • Drive adoption and optimization of usage of Anaplan Sales Compensation system and lead initiatives to streamline and automate all processes related to sales compensation


What you’ll need to join Insight


  • Finance/Accounting focus
  • 10 or more years of relevant work experience in Sales Compensation/Sales Strategy/Commercial Operations
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic problem-solving skills, and influencing skills—to drive tactical business outcomes within a global matrixed organization
  • Collaboration-mindset, with proven ability to cultivate a high-performing team & drive operational transformation
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced sales environment, with the ability to reach to solutions that may require compromising, negotiation, and conflict management
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of sales incentive concepts, sales data tracking, processes/systems, methodologies, and related field enablement requirements
  • Ability to establish strategic relationships and influence executive business partners through analytical reasoning, creativity, and sound judgment
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to demonstrate sound decision making under tight timelines
  • Self-starter, team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities
  • Advanced skills required in Anaplan, CRM (SAP ClientLink or SFDC), MSFT Excel and Power Point.
