The Senior Accountant is a dynamic and detail-oriented role that requires a strong accounting background and an understanding of general ledger accounting in a large company environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for internal financial reporting and analysis, focusing on revenue recognition and cost of goods sold. This position reports to the Manager of Accounting and requires the ability to manage large volumes of ERP data, perform advanced functions in MS Excel, and communicate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
What you’ll do at Insight
- Actively contribute to the end-to-end revenue recognition function, including the month-end and quarter-end revenue close processes with review and approval of account adjusting entries and monthly reconciliations, and related reporting and disclosures.
- Analyze sales transactions and apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to:

- Recognize or defer revenue and costs into the appropriate periods.
- Record revenue and costs at the line of business and profit center level.
- Assist with accounting for contracts with customers under ASC 606
- Drive the month-end close and consolidation process through collaboration with functional business departments and corporate accounting personnel.
- Analyze and describe fluctuations in balance sheet accounts, revenue, and cost of goods sold.
- Compile data for accounting memos related to revenue recognition issues and assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Identify and implement continuous process improvement efforts within the accounting function.
- Perform various ad-hoc analyses and special projects as assigned.
What you’ll need to join Insight
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 4 years of experience in Accounting & Finance functions.
- Strong accounting and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with ASC 606.
- Ability to identify balance sheet errors and improper or misclassified revenue or cogs activity.
- Ability to document and support the purpose of journal entries and reconciliations.
- Experience manipulating and analyzing large volumes of data.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with various organizational levels.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Effectively work in a team-environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a deadline orientated environment.
- General knowledge of information technology (networks, operating systems, business applications, web technology, databases).
- Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- CPA strongly recommended
- CMA a plus.
- Working Knowledge of SAP and NetSuite a plus.
- Experience working for a publicly held company a plus.
