Position Overview
Insight is seeking a mid‑level Corporate Counsel (Labor & Employment) to join our collaborative and globally distributed Legal team. This role is ideal for an attorney with 4–6 years of labor and employment law experience who is looking to build a long‑term in‑house career while handling a broad range of employment‑related matters.
The position is primarily focused on employment and HR legal support, with limited exposure to commercial contracts and other corporate matters. You will work closely with Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders to provide practical, business‑focused legal guidance that supports Insight’s people‑centric culture.
Key Responsibilities
Labor & Employment Legal Support
- Advise HR, recruiting, and business leaders on employment‑related matters, including compliance with applicable local, state, federal, and international employment laws.
- Provide guidance on wage and hour, leaves of absence, accommodations, performance management, employee relations, discipline, and separations.
- Support and conduct internal investigations, including fact‑finding, documentation, and recommendations.
- Assist with and respond to government agency inquiries (e.g., EEOC, DOL, state human rights agencies).
- Draft, review, update, and interpret employment policies, procedures, and agreements.
- Monitor changes in employment law and proactively communicate risks, trends, and recommended actions.
Litigation & Risk Management
- Coordinate with and manage outside counsel on employment litigation and administrative matters.
- Support pre‑litigation strategy, risk assessments, and settlement discussions.
- Assist in managing employment‑related disputes and claims in a cost‑effective and business‑aligned manner.
Training, Governance & Legal Operations
- Help develop and deliver training programs on employment compliance, workplace conduct, and risk mitigation.
- Support improvements to legal processes, templates, and tools used by HR and business stakeholders.
- Work independently while collaborating closely with senior attorneys and cross‑functional partners.
- Balance competing priorities in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Qualifications
Required
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 4–6 years of labor and employment law experience (law firm and/or in‑house).
- Experience advising HR and business stakeholders on day‑to‑day employment matters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into practical business guidance.
- Ability to work autonomously while exercising sound judgment on escalation and risk.
- Experience using legal department technology such as Microsoft O365, DocuSign, Adobe Sign, and similar tools.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Prior experience supporting a large or complex organization.
- Exposure to international employment issues (Canadian experience a plus, not required).
- Limited exposure to commercial contracting, public‑sector requirements, or basic IP concepts (trademarks/copyrights).
- Experience partnering closely with HR, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders.
