Sr VMware Engineer (VMC&NSX)

Position Overview

As part of the Platform Professional Services team the Sr. VMware Engineer is responsible for delivery of technology solutions as per the Statement of Work (SOW) to our clients.   These solutions can include incorporating or integrating information technology systems to increase efficiency, improve processes, service delivery, customer relationships, and/or capital expenditures. The Sr. VMware Engineer will be a part of a multi-faceted team delivering on small-to-large sized projects which expands across different technologies and disciplines, such as data center, data protection, cloud and virtualization, security, networking, storage, voice, and collaboration. 

 

What you’ll do at Insight

  • Provide industry direction and provide leadership to keep ahead of our competitors
  • Practice regular sales support to be recognized as the Insight leader for your technology area.
  • Work directly with Solution Principles focusing on the message from a business and delivery strategy.
  • Develop solutions that meet the capabilities of the organization
  • Work with sales and services leadership to assist in scoping solutions and services opportunities.  
  • Work with PSMs to develop strategic training plans and enablement.
  • Understand technical problems and assists in identifying potential opportunities and investigate ways to resolve them, which includes preparing solution proposals. 
  • Conduct information and data gathering interviews with the client and/or the internal project team
  • Mentor and train engineers within the organization with products that fall within your expertise
  • Conduct research and analysis, including mathematical, financial, technical, or industry research, to gain understanding of the business
  • Contribute to the team.   Teammates will assist in creating collateral and deliverables that can be used across the team.
  • Assist in development of lab and POC environments for the purpose of services and team development
  • Serve as the bridge between the client, the project team, and Insight.

 

What you’ll need to join Insight

  • Design and implementation level skills required in the following technologies: vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, NSX-T, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
  • Understanding of NSX-V to NSX-T migration planning and methodologies
  • Experience with complex migrations of compute, storage or other data center infrastructure.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar preferred.
  • Position requires 3-4 years hands on experience within similar industry.
  • Must be able to work with both ends of basic level testing as well as high level testing and documentation.
  • Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed. 
  • Familiarity with large account environments and protocol required.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills needed. 
  • Must have the ability to keep current with alternative systems and technology and make technology recommendations to management consistent with the company’s business and systems strategies. 
  • Must have the ability to multitask with strong organization and time management skills. 
  • Must be able to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints within a timely fashion.
