Data Solutions Architect

The EMEA Services Delivery function delivers professional and managed services to Insight’s clients across a broad range of technology and software offerings, delivers a scaled and consistent client experience, and employs methodologies through the following centres of excellence; 


  • The Customer Operations team provides high quality customer support across assigned regions from multiple delivery centres. 

  • The Engineering team provides automated and scripted innovative migration and implementation activities in order to achieve maximum efficiency, consistency, and performance. 

  • The Licence Consulting team provides expertise in optimisation and compliance services to clients on-premises or in the Cloud whilst maintaining cost efficiencies and savings. 

  • The Service Design & Delivery team, and each of its subfunctions, leads on designing client solutions in partnership with Insight’s clients before planning and executing end -to-end engagements. 

  • The Digital Innovation team explores and drives first-of-type innovations around technology including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Advanced Analytics, Internet of Things (IoT), Connected Sensors, and Robotics. 

  • The Technology Solutions Group, through technology and business practice leadership, takes responsibility for the overall service strategy, and subsequent solution, and services development by a team of solution leaders, product designers, and agile leaders. TSG also governs the repeatable processes, tools, and automation underpinning Insight’s service delivery. 


Complementing each of the centres of excellence is the Service Delivery Management team, located in every country, which manages the client experience and ensures a truly client -centric approach across EMEA, and the Services Operations & Transformation team which drives operational excellence and business improvements across all areas within the Services Delivery function. 


The Data Solutions Architect resides within the Service Design & Delivery area of the EMEA Services Delivery function, specifically within the Consulting team. 


The Data Solutions Architect, a domain architect, is a specialist with deep knowledge and niche expertise in the field of Data services and acts a supporting role to the Enterprise Solutions Architect. They are responsible for leading the technical presales of the Data Modernisation Offering, and drive the strategy, performance, and growth of the EMEA App & Data services practice by working closely with the Technology Lead, Practice Manager, local Sales leadership teams, and wider EMEA Services function. 





  • Act as the ‘Data Platform expert’ and lead technical solution development with clients, partners, and external communities for new presales Data Modernisation development opportunities. 

  • Work closely with Insight’s sales teams to develop and execute selling strategies and direct large proposal efforts by leading virtual teams and collaborating with local and global resources. 

  • Support presales and business development activities to take shape by communicating proposed solutions with client executives and architects, interact with senior programme/client architects where required. 

  • Seek to understand and evaluate clients business needs and industry trends in depth in order to develop trusted advisory relationships with clients and align solutions based upon Insight’s key differentiators. 

  • Define and execute the Proof of Concept (POC) to demonstrate the value of the Data solution to the client. 

  • Assess the clients knowledge of the Data Platform and overall Cloud readiness to support clients through a structured learning plan and ensure its successful delivery through partners. 

  • Gather and analyse requirements from large, complex client environments and perform research and investigation activities to identify and create thorough, accurate technical solution proposals. 

  • Assess and define the Data architecture principles with the client, also develop and implement the client-approved solution. 

  • Design conceptual architectural and technical solutions; direct efforts toward defining technical, operational and user requirements including high-level design, statements of work, service design, and bills of materials. 

  • Design and build modern data pipelines, data streams, and data service APIs, also deliver architectures for transformations and modernisations of enterprise data solutions using Azure Cloud Data technologies. 

  • Support with the planning and implementation of data design services, provide sizing and configuration assistance, and perform needs assessments where required. 

  • Develop data warehouse schematics, layouts, architectures, and relational/non-relational databases for Data Access and Advanced Analytics. 

  • Prepare cost estimates for Data Platform solutions including professional and managed services, licensing, and hardware. 

  • Manage and review the work of teams across all phases of the project (Plan, Build and Manage) in one or more projects, ensure offshore resources are utilised and leveraged appropriately, and project quality meets standards through the KPI identification and testing plan. 

  • Own partnership with cross-functional technology and design teams to ensure consistent, beneficial client interaction and solution delivery. 

  • Proactively deliver strategic messages and roadmaps to new and existing clients and lead client workshops and requirements discovery sessions, as well as building relationships with opportunity channel partners to enable collaboration. 

  • Support with business value assessment and business case development and provide solution fit assessments against the clients requirements. 

  • Contribute to sales effectiveness by identifying issues that may need to be addressed, provide information and commentary pertinent to deliberations, recommend options and courses of action, and implement directives. 

  • Maintain and advance deep technical skills and knowledge, keep up to date with market trends and competitive insights, and share knowledge and best practice within the technical community. 

  • Act as technical ‘point of escalation’ during the delivery of the data implementation project. 

  • Contribute to the EMEA Data Modernisation Offering and standardisation as the technical ‘Data expert.’ 

  • Make recommendations to the design authority in order to create new standards based on any bespoke solutions created during a sales engagement. 

  • Maintain close relationships with the standards development function and provide input in to the into the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and best practices.

  • Services department profitability - Services practice/client P&L business delivering 100% against annual financial plan (Revenue and GP) 




  • Previous experience working in a Presales, consulting, and or technical architecture role 

  • High level of written and spoken English 

  • Ability to work both independently and within teams, including leading teammates in virtual teams, with a focus on our culture and values 

  • Experience of design and implementation of data warehousing solutions on cloud platforms -specifically data ingestion, integration, and transformation; reporting applications; custom analytics; data migration from on-prem to cloud infrastructure; cloud storage architecture 

  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage sometimes quickly changing priorities 

  • Hands on and in-depth experience of Cloud systems from a Data Architecture/Data Engineer perspective experience in Data Integration patterns and the design of AI/ML data solutions using notable services 

  • Previous experience consulting to external clients on complex projects, and ability to shape complex solutions and assure high quality on the delivery side 

  • Ability to analyse current practices, processes and procedures as well as identify future opportunities for leveraging Microsoft Azure Data & Analytics PaaS Services 

  • Experience working with global teams on projects and working with offshore teams to facilitate project work 

  • Advanced skills in analysing, designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining Big Data, AI, and Analytics systems 

  • Experience of communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form 

  • Experience of exposing data to end users using PowerBI, Azure API Apps or any other modern visualization platform or experience 

  • Experience of communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form 





The position is based in Netherlands, main offices are located in Apeldoorn and Amsterdam. Possibility for hybrid working, remote with occasional visits to the office and client sites.
