Our client in the energy sector is seeking an Operational Technology Systems Analyst for a 6+ month contract employment opportunity. While candidates are preferred to work from Edmonton, Alberta in a hybrid setting there is an ability to work remotely, from across Canada, for candidates who strongly match the requirements. The successful Operational Technology Systems Analyst candidate will have extensive experience working in industrial operations centers and be comfortable collaborating with Engineers to ensure all designs and operations meet security requirements and specifications.
Responsibilities:
OT Cyber Specialist Skills
- Develop technical Cyber Risk Mitigation Plans for Industrial Control Systems, Operational Technology and associated networks for Critical Infrastructure
- Review supply chain vendor cyber security risks and participate in scope and contract negotiations to mitigate risk.
- Monitor, tune and respond to events within OT monitoring tools and SIEM
- OT Vulnerability assessments and monitoring, based on risk
- Review threat intelligence feeds for applicability to OT environment
- Update and develop OT incident response playbooks
- Expand logging and visibility to cover “blind spots” within the fleet OT networks, based on risk and upcoming CIP-003 requirements.
- Provide input into cybersecurity roadmap to meet and maintain our maturity goals
- Contributes to the development and ongoing maintenance of the compliance program for NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards.
OT Network Specialist Skills
- Design, support, monitor and maintain industrial networks and security appliances across the fleet. This includes greenfield developments, brownfield acquisitions, and existing system modifications utilizing industry best practices.
- Network monitoring and device maintenance
- Firewall rule specifications and reviews
- Network drawing development and authentication as required per change management standards
- Develop and maintain industrial network security standards, procedures, and guidelines to align with industry best practice and applicable regulations.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of network administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with design, support, and maintenance of industrial control or computer systems, including HMIs, servers, and communication networks.
- Working knowledge of key network infrastructure components, including:
- network switches (physical and virtual), routers, firewalls; networking technologies, such as: routing protocols; spanning tree, fail-over services.
- Advanced knowledge of Operational Technology, SCADA, and ICS Cyber Security best practices.
- Understanding of control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA, RTU).
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as MODBUS, ICCP, DNP3, OPC.
- Experience with Windows administration, domain administration and virtualization.
- Solid understanding of codes and standards related to controls and industrial networks design.
- Familiarity with NIST, NERC CIP and other standards related to cyber security and ICS design.
- Must be able to work both independently and as a part of a team.
- Periodic travel to various sites within Canada and/or United States (pending country of residence).
- Degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
- Other educational backgrounds will be considered depending on experience.
- Additional network and security-related training or cyber certifications would be considered an asset.
