Description:

Our client in the energy Sector, located in Edmonton, Alberta, is seeking two (2) BI Consultants for a 6-month contract term of employment, with an opportunity of extension. As the successful BI Consultant candidate, you will either support the client with ongoing project initiatives or optimizing their operational data and processes. This opportunity will be a combination of in-office and remote work (hybrid) in Edmonton, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

Working on JIRA / SNOW tickets on BI visualizations / modifications
Building new BI visualizations and new ETL models etc.
DAX optimizations.
Optimizing ETL data loads (snowflake, ADF, SQL queries, SSIS / SSRS, etc.)
Working closely with external clients to gather requirements for BI visualizations and other requests.
BI administration – access level, workspace etc.

Requirements:

10 years experience as a BI Consultant or equivalent.
In-depth knowledge of BI and analytics technologies with the focus on the following:
- Modern data warehouse approaches (snowflake, data lakes, cloud data warehouses, public clouds)
- Analytics environments (Data Bricks, R Studio, Apache Spark, etc.)
- Data pipelines, transforms and in-memory modeling / data engineering (MS SSIS, Data Factory, MS SSAS)
- Data Visualization (Power BI, MS SSRS)
Experience using various components within the MS Azure advanced analytics ecosystem.
Understanding of programming languages such as (but not limited to): C#, SQL, Python, Dax, Scripting Languages
In-depth understanding of Business intelligence (BI) technologies and its capabilities. (Preferably focused on Microsoft BI technology stack).
In-depth understanding of all aspects of modern analytics delivery process
Understanding of Power, Natural Gas and Emissions commodity markets throughout North America is an asset
