F5 Network Engineer

F5 Engineer

Our client is looking for an F5 Engineer to help support their current environment. This is a 6-month contract working onsite in Germantown MD.

Job Location: Onsite. Initially remote due to Coronavirus stay at home policy but will need to be onsite after that.

Responsibilities:

The overall objectives of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Architect F5 solutions.
  • Support & Maintain the current physical & virtual F5 environment.
  • Create & update iRules as required.

Qualifications:

Candidate must have:

  • 7 years of relevant F5 experience configuring and maintaining F5 LTM and GTM devices both hardware and virtual
  • Strong understanding of F5 Architecture and comfortable with creating and managing multiple Route Domains and/or Partitions.
  • Architect F5 solutions as required.
  • Perform load balancing configuration for F5 devices
  • Maintenance of F5 devises for load balancing, PIV authentication and high availability/disaster recovery
  • Experience in creating and administering F5 iRules.
  • Perform day to day support and maintenance of the F5 environment.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Understanding and knowledge of network devices (routers, switches, etc.) including HTTP headers, ISO layers, and TCP flags.
  • Ability to read packet captures for troubleshooting of data traffic flow.
  • Knowledge of DNS configurations for both the Internet and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Fundamental knowledge of encryption to include HTTPS in a reverse and forward proxy environment.
  • Ability to provide afterhours support for escalations.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication skills, both oral & written.
  • Ability to work with multiple teams dispersed across multiple locations
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have:

  • F5 Certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with Cisco Networking is a plus.
