Role Summary

This role focuses on Azure governance, identity & access management, platform security, and establishing secure guardrails across the customer’s cloud environment. The engineer will work closely with application teams, cloud architects, and the SOC to identify risks and implement preventive controls.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Compliance

Implement and manage Azure governance frameworks (Management Groups, Policies, RBAC, Blueprints).
Review findings from governance/security assessments and work with stakeholders to create remediation roadmaps.
Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements (NIST, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001).
Validate tagging, cost governance, resource lock policies, and subscription-level controls.

Identity & Access Management

Manage Azure AD / Entra ID identity security (Conditional Access, MFA, Identity Protection).
Implement least privilege, JIT, PIM, custom roles, and access reviews.
Harden privileged identities and monitor identity risk signals.

Platform Security
Secure foundational services like:

Key Vault (RBAC, access policies, secrets rotation)
Storage Accounts (private endpoints, encryption, SAS governance)
App Service / Function security baselines
VM baseline hardening and secure image management
Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for new workloads.

Azure Monitor & Logging

Configure baseline monitoring for governance, identity, and platform-level security events.
Ensure audit logs, activity logs, and resource logs feed into Sentinel / SIEM.

Collaboration with Other Teams

Work with SOC, cloud architects, and application teams on preventive security requirements.
Participate in cloud onboarding and security design reviews.

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years in cloud security; at least 4 years hands-on with Azure.
Strong understanding of Azure governance controls, RBAC, policies, blueprints.
Deep knowledge of IAM & identity security fundamentals.
Experience securing Azure foundational services.
Good grasp of Zero Trust principles and defense-in-depth.
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks.
Certifications preferred: AZ-500, SC-300, AZ-305, SC-900, AZ-104.
