About the role
Insight is seeking an experienced Wireless Network Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise wireless networking solutions for client environments. This role will focus on wireless network design, deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting using Cisco wireless technologies, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco Meraki, and Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in wireless implementations, RF planning, controller-based WLAN deployments, and client-facing delivery engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and support enterprise wireless network solutions across campus, branch, and multi-site environments
- Implement Cisco Catalyst Center, formerly Cisco DNA Center, for network automation, assurance, and intent-based networking
- Deploy and configure Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking platforms for enterprise clients
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers
- Perform wireless network design, implementation, validation, and post-deployment optimization
- Conduct wireless assessments, coverage analysis, and capacity planning to support business and user requirements
- Troubleshoot WLAN performance issues including coverage gaps, roaming, interference, authentication, and client connectivity problems
- Prepare low-level designs, implementation plans, survey reports, configuration documents, and operational handover documentation
- Collaborate with network, security, infrastructure, and project teams to deliver reliable wireless solutions
- Provide technical guidance to clients during wireless design workshops, deployments, and migration activities
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise wireless network engineering
- Strong experience with wireless network design and implementation for enterprise environments
- Working experience with Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers
- Experience migrating from AireOS to Cisco Catalyst 9800 WLCs
- Hands-on experience implementing Cisco Catalyst Center, formerly Cisco DNA Center, for network automation and intent-based networking
- Proven experience deploying and configuring Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking platforms for enterprise clients
- Experience with WLAN security, authentication, SSID design, roaming, RF optimization, and client connectivity troubleshooting
- Experience preparing wireless design documents, implementation plans, test plans, and operational handover documentation
Technical Skills
- Cisco Catalyst 9800 Series Wireless Controllers
- Cisco Catalyst Center for automation, assurance, and intent-based networking
- Cisco Meraki Dashboard, Meraki MR access points, switches, and security appliances
- Enterprise WLAN design, RF planning, SSID configuration, WLAN security, and guest wireless design
- Wireless standards and technologies including 802.11ax, 802.11ac, and mesh networks
- Wireless troubleshooting for roaming, interference, channel planning, signal strength, authentication, and client performance issues
- LAN switching fundamentals including VLANs, trunks, access ports, PoE, QoS, and high availability
- Network protocols including DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, TACACS+, SNMP, NTP, OSPF, and BGP
- Wireless monitoring and analytics using Cisco Catalyst Center Assurance, Meraki Dashboard, or equivalent tools
- Ekahau predictive wireless survey knowledge is preferred
- Certifications (Preferred)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - Enterprise or Routing & Switching
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Routing & Switching or Enterprise
- Cisco Meraki Certified Network Associate (MCNA)
- Cisco Certified Specialist - Enterprise Network Core Technologies
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent security certification
- Preferred Qualifications
- Good understanding of wireless technologies such as 802.11ax, 802.11ac, and mesh networking
- Experience with Ekahau predictive wireless surveys, planning, and reporting
- Experience with wireless site surveys, heatmap analysis, AP placement, and RF remediation recommendations
- Knowledge of Cisco ISE, 802.1X, guest access, and enterprise WLAN security integrations
- Experience supporting wireless migration, controller refresh, or WLAN modernization projects
- Familiarity with multi-vendor wireless environments and interoperability considerations
- Experience in customer-facing professional services or managed services environments
