About the role

As a VMWare Engineer II, you will provide advanced administration and troubleshooting for VMware infrastructure ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and DR readiness. Along the way, you will get to:

• Configure and manage clusters (HA, DRS, EVC, vMotion) 
• Perform datastore provisioning, multipathing & storage troubleshooting 
• Conduct ESXi patching & vCenter upgrades 
• Perform root cause analysis (host failures, resource contention) 
• Manage VM migrations across clusters/datacenters 
• Support DR replication, failover & failback testing 
• Implement resource optimization & capacity management 
• Manage vSphere clusters (HA, DRS, vMotion operations) 
• Perform host additions, cluster expansions, and resource balancing 
• Troubleshoot ESXi host, VM performance, and storage/network issues 
• Support vSAN configuration and monitoring 
• Execute patching, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management 
• Support backup/replication and DR testing activities 
• Participate in problem management and root cause analysis (RCA)

• Advanced vSphere administration (7.x/8.x) 
• vSAN & storage performance tuning 
• Backup & DR tools expertise 
• Networking integration (NIC teaming, distributed switches) 
• PowerCLI scripting (basic automation) 
• Strong troubleshooting & documentation skills 
• vSphere cluster management (HA, DRS, vMotion) 
• vSAN basic configuration & troubleshooting 
• Backup & replication support (SRM awareness) 
• Performance analysis & resource optimization
• Certification - VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization
