IaaS Architect – Arch I

Job Description Overview

This is a motivated and passionate IaaS Architect interested in joining a consulting practice. This candidate is a practitioner of Azure IaaS services and provisioning in Azure – as well as a strong cloud architect, designing a deploying well-architected cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer-facing roles and success delivering Azure VMs and disk design, performance and optimization.

What you’ll do for Insight:  

• Be eager to learn and stay up to date on new and emerging cloud technologies
• Work as part of Insight and client teams, following Agile/Scrum approaches and ceremonies
• Communicate effectively and professionally with teammates, client personnel, and client stakeholders
• As a IaaS Architect
  • Design Azure VM infrastructure and allocated managed SSD disks.
  • Optimize Azure managed SSD disk size without degrading performance.
  • Perform VM disk size optimization at scale with PowerShell scripts.
• As a Migration Architect
  • Provide consulting services to customer on crafting migration strategies.
  • Plan and execute migrations to Azure, utilizing lift-and-shift, app modernization, and other migration strategies as needed.
  • Design and Deploy landing zones.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for cloud architectures, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot any OS level issues pre/post migration.
  • Troubleshoot Azure migrate appliance issue on VMware/Hyper-V
  • Design azure networking components and firewalls.
  • Perform storage migrations such as file servers migration.

REQUIREMENTS 

Background and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred
• Certifications in relevant technologies, cloud providers, or demonstration of ongoing learning
• 7+ years of experience in consulting services or similar roles focused on project-based work, and/or solution development.  
• 3+ years of leading teammates or being part of large teams on projects

Technical Skills

• Excellent understanding of provisioning and optimizing VM and managed disks.
• Expert understanding of cloud infrastructure, primarily Azure, secondarily AWS and/or GCP
• Expert with Cloud Adoption Frameworks and Well-Architected Frameworks; have solid experience delivering CAF and WAF engagements
• Experience with on-prem to cloud migrations
• Experience designing and deploying cloud architectures that include disaster recovery sites, as well as designing, implementing and executing failovers and failbacks
• In-depth experience in automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), Configuration-as-Code (CaC) and management of cloud hosted resources
• Strong scripting skills in PowerShell.
