Sr. Network Engineer (Hanover Park)

Our Insight Cloud+Data Center Transformation team is searching for an experienced, passionate and professional Senior Network Engineer  to join our team.

As a senior network engineer you are responsible for the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of customer's network in a unique environment on cruise ships.  This position requires patience and methodical approach (OSI) to troubleshooting. Must be able to work in a team environment and have excellent customer service skills.


What you’ll do at Insight:


  • Responsible for Planning and building out complete ship's network infrastructure in our Handover Park, IL facility
  • Work and troubleshoot with close-knit infrastructure team (server, security, voice, etc).
  • Participate in troubleshooting with applications teams
  • Perform advanced, complex network analysis, identify problems and design solutions
  • Recommend enhancements to network that will improve the quality, performance, security, and reliability of the network
  • Creates and maintains documentation of networks and network systems.
  • Provides technical network expertise to others as necessary, including instructing field personnel in basic network troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Travel to shipyard for post configuration support
  • Work with client and shipyard project managers


What you’ll need to join Insight:


  • Degree in Computer/Information Science, technical college, or equivalent work experience

5+ years progressive experience in networking

  • CCNP level certification or commensurate experience
    • Certification is a big plus.
  • Demonstrated CCNA level technology and support experience for route/switch, security, wireless, etc. Certifications will be a big plus.
  • Demonstrated CCNA level network technology and support experience
  • Experience with Cisco catalyst switching platform
  • Familiar with implementing and troubleshooting layer 2 and 3  protocols (HSRP, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, Multicast)Demonstrated understanding of network technologies and protocols
  • Wireless experience preferred
  • Cisco DNAC (DNA Center) experience a plus
  • Strong ability and focus on network troubleshooting and resolution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in partnership with others
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Eagerness to learn and continually expand on skillset
  • Travel outside of county up to 50% of the time. Minimum of 3-4 week rotations. Active passport required.
  • Must be vaccinated and ok with potential quarantine periods
