About the role

The POC Engineering Services Manager leads the end‑to‑end delivery of device Proof of Concept (POC) engagements—from scoping and lab build through pilot, acceptance, and handoff to run‑rate operations—ensuring each client sees a clear, data‑backed path from evaluation to production. This role manages a team of POC engineers/technicians and coordinates across Sales, Pre‑Sales, Integration Labs, Logistics, Service Delivery/SDM, and Client Operations to deliver high‑quality outcomes on time, within budget, and to defined acceptance criteria.

You will own the POC program mechanics: technical work instructions, time studies and costing, lab readiness, quality gates, client cadence, KPI dashboards, and the “t‑minus” plan for a clean transition into steady state. You will also get to:

Leadership & People

  • Lead and mentor POC engineers/technicians; set priorities, conduct regular 1:1s, foster a culture of safety, quality, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop future leaders (e.g., Sr Techs/Team Leads); manage performance and coach for career growth.
  • Oversee staffing, utilization, training plans and certification paths aligned to roadmap needs (Intune/Autopilot, ABM, Knox, imaging tooling).
  • Manage timesheets/expense approvals and team schedule to meet POC milestones.

Client Engagement & Program Governance

  • Run intake, scoping, and solutioning with Sales/SEs; define POC scope, success criteria, acceptance test plan, and demo narrative.
  • Host client technical meetings; communicate risks, and outcomes clearly to client and internal leadership.
  • Serve as the first escalation point for technical client and internal challenges; drive issue triage, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions.
  • Present POC results (KPIs, findings, recommendations) and secure acceptance/next‑step commitments (e.g., run‑rate, Flex).

Technical Execution & Lab Readiness

  • Ensure lab setup for each POC: image build/import, driver/firmware, asset tagging, laser etching artwork, kitting, documentation, and proof builds.
  • Author and maintain ISO‑style technical work instructions (TWIs) the labs use for processing; train lab personnel on new procedures.
  • Conduct POC time studies to validate labor models (“lab pack fees”); capture lessons learned to optimize future work.
  • Oversee technical troubleshooting during POC and early pilot orders; ensure clean handoff to run‑rate build processes.

Process, Quality, & Safety

  • Define and manage POC quality gates and metrics: first‑pass yield, defect/return rates, DOA, RMA loopbacks, rework hours.
  • Implement Lean/5S practices in collaboration with Lab leadership; run after‑action reviews and publish corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, security, and client data‑handling standards; enforce safe lab practices and device sanitization policies.

Tooling, Data, & Reporting

  • Build and automate POC dashboards (cycle time, pass rate, effort variance, conversion to run‑rate); publish weekly status and executive summaries.

Financials, Forecasting, & Commercial Support

  • Own POC estimates and the “t‑minus” plan to production; track actuals vs. estimate, and explain variances.
  • Contribute to pricing models, SOW assumptions, and lab‑pack rate cards; validate cost capture via time studies and reporting.
  • Support pre‑sales (RFPs, demos, SOW language, assumptions, risks) and partner with Services Sales/Solution Executives to build pipeline and convert POCs to wins.
  •
