Sr Manager Shipping

Position Overview 

Supervision of shipping department teammates and managers to ensure operational expectations are met for Insight’s internal and external customers.  Overall supervision includes proper planning, forecasting, training and operational efficiency with regards to employee utilization, logistical processes and employee administrative functions.  Responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships within Insight and its partners and clients. Teammate will follow all Insight policies and procedures. Each person is accountable for meeting or exceeding individual and / or departmental metrics 

What you’ll do at Insight 

  • Leading and coaching the Shipping department.  Holds reviews for all area teammates. Hires and develops teammates. 
  • Assist with the creation of plans and strategies to department objectives. 
  • Drive the creation of metrics that measure and track results for accountability and attainment of objectives including but not limited to shipping OTD, throughput, & SLE.
  • Work closely with on continuous process improvement with transportation partners
  • Manage ongoing reporting of metrics in executive dashboards and management reporting systems. Provide regular reporting to executive team.  
  • Conducts special studies to analyze performance and prepares recommendations for policy, procedure, control or action. 
  • Value engineering to optimize infrastructure (processes, systems and people) and drive cross functional integration.  
  • Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, new business planning, trended future requirements, and operating forecasts. 
  • Work with Human Resources on successful implementation of compensation and performance planning. 
  • Responsible for driving operational efficiencies by constantly evaluating processes, procedures and systems. 
  • Maintains open lines of communication with other departments to insure confidence and enhance the relationships within Insight.
  • Represents Insight in a professional and business-like manner and communicates effectively with Insight associates and their customers 
  • Issuing of daily, monthly and quarterly reports  
  • Some travel required 
  • Other duties as assigned 

What you’ll need to join Insight 

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of strong task oriented results.   
  • The ability to model using advanced Excel functionality is a requirement.   
  • Effectively correspond both verbally and in writing to Executives, managers, and other team mates.   
  • Ability to effectively team with department managers to meet the given time constraints and business requirements.   
  • Due to our rapidly changing business environment, flexibility is a requirement in this position.  
  • Knowledge of SAP and Access is beneficial.  
  • Strong people and leadership skills.
