Software Licensing Consultant

The Software Licensing Consultant (SLC) is always working to gain better knowledge on the licensing programs that they cover.  The SLC has an above-average understanding of specific licensing programs and the parameters within them.  The SLC will work with account teams supporting Insight accounts to help our customers understand their licensing needs and recommends the appropriate licensing solution.  As part of the SLC recommendations, there may be advanced analysis and comparison of licensing options.  The SLC will interact with the Insight account team and will engage with customers face to face where most customer interaction is via customer conference calls. 


What you will do at Insight:

  • Provide answers to pre-sales and post-sales licensing questions for Insight sales teams and customers
  • Participate in customer conference calls
  • Serve as a software licensing specialist at Insight for the manufacturer’s assigned
  • Develop and maintain expertise on the manufacturer's products, programs, competition, and the industry
  • Occasional travel may be required in compliance with Insight’s travel policy


Sales Support

  • Provide assistance in closing specific business opportunities
  • Drive sales goals through direct customer contact
  • Identify specific business opportunities during customer conference calls and upsell where applicable.
  • Work with Account Executives on lead opportunities provided by the manufacturer
  • Support Microsoft T-36 account plan
  • Provide measurable data to management on Renewal, True-Up, and other product status
  • Facilitate annual EA True-UP Cycle
  • Support account team in overall EA Renewal Process, complex quoting, and Analysis
  • Achieve team quota as set by Senior Management
  • Communicate and provide feedback to Insight Product Manager and Manufacturer Representatives regarding sales/competition trends, and product awareness via weekly meetings 


Training and Certification: 

  • Due to the ever-changing nature of our industry, constant education is necessary to keep abreast of the software solutions offered by manufacturers and their direct competitors.  This will be accomplished through reading material on manufacturer websites, attending webinars and training sessions, and by participating in meetings with manufacturer representatives.
  • The SLC will identify and take part in training and certification programs that will support the technical, product, and industry training necessary to successfully win the confidence of Insight sales executives and customers and increase revenue in the manufacturers assigned.
  • Must be or will achieve certified Microsoft Partner Commercial Executive (P-CE)


What you will need to join Insight

  • College degree preferred, may consider High school diploma based on work history
  • Must have manufacturer or industry experience or certifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years of sales support or sales experience required.
  • Previous work experience around Microsoft Licensing and support is required
  • Computer hardware/software knowledge is extremely helpful.
  • The willingness and ability to self-learn much of the software licensing information that will be necessary as changes occur.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Sales teams or customers.  Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must and proven telephone skills are required. 
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are also desired.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Excel (advanced usage), Outlook, Teams, SharePoint
