Job Title: Cybersecurity Pre-Sales Consultant
Location: Uxbridge/Sheffield/Manchester – 3 days a week.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cybersecurity Pre-Sales Consultant to join our growing security practice. This is a client-facing, technically hands-on and commercially focused role that combines pre-sales solution design with senior consulting responsibilities.

 

You will work closely with clients to understand their business and security requirements, design secure-by-design solutions, and shape successful proposals. The role has a strong emphasis on Microsoft security technologies (particularly Microsoft Sentinel and the broader Microsoft security ecosystem), enterprise protection technologies, and cloud security.

 

You will be expected to operate confidently across multiple cybersecurity domains, engage at both technical and executive levels, and act as a trusted advisor who can translate complex security needs into clear, deliverable, and commercially viable solutions.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Engage with clients in the pre-sales phase to understand business, technical, and security requirements.
  • Lead the design and implementation of secure-by-design solutions for enterprise environments, ensuring robust security controls are built in from the outset.
  • Design end-to-end security architecture with a particular focus on SIEM and SOC capabilities (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel and other leading SIEM platforms).
  • Create high-quality Statements of Work (SoWs), proposals, and supporting documentation.
  • Contribute to and lead elements of RFP/RFI responses, including solution design, scope definition, and effort/price estimation.
  • Present solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders, clearly articulating value, risk reduction, and business outcomes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during client meetings, workshops, and proof-of-concept engagements.
  • Develop and implement cloud security strategies to protect cloud-based assets and applications across major cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Utilise data protection solutions such as Microsoft Purview to ensure confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information while supporting regulatory compliance.
  • Design and implement identity and authorisation solutions (e.g., Entra ID / Azure AD and related IAM technologies).
  • Support or lead threat and vulnerability management activities, including threat modelling, risk assessments, and security posture reviews.
  • Contribute to the design and optimisation of security monitoring, detection engineering, and incident response processes.
  • Conduct or guide incident management processes, including investigation, response coordination, recovery strategies, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Apply industry frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, GDPR, and NIS2 to guide security practices and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate security throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Work closely with sales, delivery, and architecture teams to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and commercially viable.
  • Lead client engagements end-to-end and act as project or workstream lead on engagements, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring delivery excellence.
  • Provide thought leadership, stay up to date with evolving cybersecurity threats and tools, and help position the organisation as a trusted advisor in the cybersecurity space.

 

 

Key skills and experience required: 

 

  • Extensive experience in cybersecurity in roles such as security engineer, SOC engineer, security consultant, or security architect.
  • Proven experience in cybersecurity consulting, with a strong focus on designing and implementing secure-by-design solutions.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering security projects (e.g., SIEM deployments, SOC build/optimisation, security monitoring, incident response, or related initiatives).
  • Hands-on experience with at least one SIEM platform (Microsoft Sentinel preferred; others such as Splunk, Google Chronicle, QRadar, LogRhythm, etc. also considered).
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel and the broader Microsoft security ecosystem (e.g., Microsoft Defender suite, Entra, Purview).
  • Proficiency with data protection technologies, particularly Microsoft Purview, for data classification, DLP, and governance.
  • Strong background in IT infrastructure and networking (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Aruba or similar).
  • Experience with cloud security and securing workloads in public cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Experience in designing and implementing identity and authorisation solutions (e.g., Entra ID / Azure AD or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with integrating security into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Good understanding of threat and vulnerability management practices and tooling.
  • In-depth knowledge of key security and regulatory frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, GDPR, and NIS2.
  • Experience working with clients, stakeholders, or internal customers in a consultative capacity.
  • Direct pre-sales or solution consulting experience, including SoW creation and RFP/RFI participation.
  • Strong understanding of business problems and the role of cybersecurity in driving organisational growth.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.
  • Vendor or technology certifications (e.g., Microsoft security certifications, Cisco, Palo Alto, or similar) are an advantage.
  • Must be eligible for security clearance in the UK.

  • Thought leadership, with the ability to provide innovative perspectives, challenge conventional thinking, and act as a trusted advisor.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, staying current with evolving cybersecurity threats, tools, technologies, and best practices.

 

Security clearance:

 

  • Must be eligible for security clearance in the UK.
