Azure Architect (contract)

Our client in the automotive sector is seeking an Azure Architect for a 4-month contract employment opportunity. The Azure Architect is responsible for designing solutions, overseeing, maintaining, and optimizing computer software systems, network, services and Azure cloud infrastructure within the organization. For this role, the successful candidate will join a project-based initiative.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provisioning and managing virtual machines, virtual networks, storage accounts, and other infrastructure components in Azure.
  • Configuring and optimizing Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and Azure Policy for infrastructure as code (IaC) deployment and governance.
  • Implementing network security groups (NSGs), firewalls, and access control lists (ACLs) to secure Azure resources and data.
  • Managing Azure subscriptions, resource groups, storage, and resource tagging.
  • Integrating Azure services with on-premises infrastructure and third-party systems using Azure Hybrid Connections, Azure Private Network, VPN Gateway, and Azure ExpressRoute.
  • Managing Azure App services, containers and other application resources.
  • Experience managing web application firewalls such as Azure Application Gateways or Azure Front Door.
  • Managing user identities, roles, and access permissions in Azure Active Directory (AAD) using Azure AD Identity Governance, Azure AD Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and Conditional Access policies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain systems and services to support business operations, including email, file sharing, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Hands-on experience providing advanced technical support and problem-solving, specifically with Windows Server, Active Directory, Firewalls (Fortinet), VLAN, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and other networking protocols.

 

What you will need to succeed:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant certifications such as MCSE and Azure Administrator Associate are highly desirable.
  • 10+ years of experience in system administration, with a focus on managing enterprise-level virtual, and hyper-converged IT infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing.
  • Proven experience in managing and administering on-prem and Azure cloud infrastructure and services, including Compute, Storage, Networking, Analytics and Security.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting, Azure CLI, Azure Portal, templates for automating deployment and management tasks.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS and hands-on experience with various services such as Virtual Machines, Active Directory, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, Switches, Routers, Firewalls (Fortinet), Wi-Fi, and VPN.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, troubleshooting abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Technical certifications are a plus (CCNA, Fortinet NSE, MCSE, PMP, ITIL, etc.)
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in cross-functional teams and interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
