IT System Tools & Automation Specialist

Insight Canada’s Services organization provides monitoring, management, and support for our clients IT infrastructures and critical business processes. We are seeking a motivated IT professional with Senior System Administrator experience, including experience implementing and configuring IT system tools, who is looking to take the next step in their career.  In this role you will provide technical leadership in the design and deployment of innovative solutions in complex infrastructure environments.

Essential Functions of the Job:


  • Implement, integrate, tune, and administer a suite of monitoring and management tools such as: N-Able, Auvik, Block64, LogicMonitor, and ScienceLogic.
  • Coordinate with vendors to remediate any tool related issues.
  • Advise as to the ongoing management of tools and monitoring, working closely with the operations team.
  • Develop and mature our CMDB, tools and processes to be leveraged by the managed services team.
  • As a member of the new client onboarding team, contribute to system discovery, analysis, and solution implementation.
  • Provide technical assessments and recommend remediation programs to eliminate deficiencies in client environments.
  • Create as built/configuration documentation for use by managed services operations.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to managed services operations for new clients being onboarded.
  • Implement backup and restore solutions to meet customer service level targets.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of Insight Canada's Managed Services infrastructure operations management processes and practices.
  • Maintain an acute focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with Service Delivery Managers in all activities within the client environment.
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to customers, teammates, and management.



Education and/or Experience:

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience creating and maintaining automation, orchestration, and scripting.
  • Experience building and maintaining integrations between IT management tools.
  • Senior level technical design and documentation skills with ability to mentor other team members, assisting with the design and build of various solutions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Windows Server, VMware, and Hyper-V.
  • Experience with various SAN technologies.
  • A strong understanding of backup and recovery processes and applications.
  • Strong knowledge of systems security and best practices.
  • Expert level knowledge of Active Directory Infrastructure, DNS, DHCP, clustering services and other Microsoft infrastructure services.
  • Experience in Azure & Office 365 backend administration.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN and WAN networking.
  • Superior organization skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience managing multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meeting deadlines, and working well under pressure, along with proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a proven ability to diffuse tense customer situations, projecting a positive, confident outlook.


  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification.
  • Strong scripting skills.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, ScienceLogic, N-able, and/or Auvik and other IT infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Experience with CMDB management and integration.
  • Experience performing discovery operations and device reconciliation.
  • Experience with enterprise deployment of IT infrastructure using Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD).
  • Thorough knowledge of Internet Authentication Service (IAS), Windows Security, deployment services, Distributed File System (DFS) and other Microsoft infrastructure services.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working with SQL or Oracle.
  • Bilingual in English and French will be considered an asset.
