The Software Licensing Consultant (SLC) will engage directly with clients and sales teams to gain an understanding of software licensing needs, present a variety of solutions, and resolve customer concerns.  The SLC will create detailed cost-benefit analyses of available products and programs then craft solutions tailored to their clients’ needs.  Working as a part of a cross-functional team including sales, operations, finance, and product management, the SLC provides best-in-class software licensing support for Insight’s clients. Effective communication skills, creativity, and a drive to learn continually are essential to success in this role. 

 

Key Responsibilities  

  • The SLC should own all aspects of the customers contract and customer interaction which includes items such as the T-36 plan in the case of Microsoft.   

  • Aid in closing specific business opportunities, including renewals, true-ups, and net new business. 

  • Identify specific business opportunities during customer conference calls and upsell where applicable. 

  • Provide up to date information regarding the opportunities that are in progress across all supported products.  

  • Provide licensing support for transactional Microsoft licensing programs including MPSA, CSP, Select Plus and Open Value/Subscription. 

  • Support the client in their decision making by providing detailed analyses of the available options. 

  • Collaborate with Insight Product Manager and manufacturer representatives on sales, product awareness, and the competitive environment.  

  • Occasional travel may be required in compliance with Insight’s travel policy. 

 

What you’ll need to succeed 

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, 2+ years’ experience in product knowledge or combination of education and experience.   

  • Must have or will attain Certified Microsoft Partner Commercial Executive (P-CE). 

  • Should maintain continued education around the various programs of the products supported.  As an example – should be Microsoft Certified in Azure Fundamentals, Power Platform Fundamentals, Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals and Microsoft 365 Certified Fundamentals. 

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Volume Licensing Programs. 

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Must be able to use Microsoft Excel (advanced usage), Outlook, Teams, SharePoint.
