Bilingual Payroll Lead

Reporting to the Manager, Global Payroll, this is an integral position in the service delivery component of our people care initiatives.  You will be responsible for providing support between the professional services activity of our business and the integrity of our payroll documentation and processing capability. Your understanding and knowledge of payroll processes combined with a keen understanding of legislative requirements provides Insight Canada employees with the confidence that their compensation and benefit related information is being processed in an accurate and efficient manner.




  1. Review payroll entries and balance prior to uploading to ADP for payment processing.
  2. Understanding of a manual calculation of a net pay. (proactively catch errors)
  3. Perform payroll balancing procedures and year-end reporting, including distribution of T4’s
  4. Institute internal payroll and benefits audits
  5. Meet with employees regularly to ensure benefit utilization through orientations and client on-site meetings
  6. Transmit payroll data to payroll service provider for processing
  7. Maintain and distribute a wide range of reports to users
  8. Provide training, leadership & support to the Payroll Administrator including vacation coverage.
  9. Annual reporting for Finance for insurance review and fiscal year end.
  10. Ability to set and manage priorities while working under tight deadlines.



  1. 4 or more years of payroll experience using ADP or a similar payroll system is required
  2. PCP certification through the CPA or similar (CPM designation a definite asset)
  3. Bilingual (French and English)
  4. Knowledge of employment and labor laws and legislation
  5. Excellent customer service skills with a well-developed professional phone manner and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  6. Benefits administration and reconciliation experience
  7. Experience with Service Canada Records of Employment (ROE Web)
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft applications particularly with Excel (pivot tables, macros, V look-ups)
  9. Proven organizational and time management skills
  10. Meticulous attention to detail
  11. Proven ability to provide strict confidentiality while ensuring security and privacy of employee’s personal data.

Office environment with computer work.  May have extensive periods of sitting, typing and phone use (may include headset).  May need to lift up to 10 lbs. Travel, i.e. driving.
