About the role
The Microsoft Solutions Specialist – Education is a high-impact sales and strategy role within Insight Public Sector (IPS), focused on advancing Microsoft technology adoption across Education accounts. This customer-facing role combines solution selling, partner engagement, and strategic execution, driving growth in Microsoft cloud, AI, security, and modern work solutions. As a key collaborator with IPS account executives, this individual will be accountable for delivering revenue growth, customer success, and alignment with Microsoft-funded initiatives while translating complex solution plays into tangible outcomes for K–12 and Higher Education clients. Along the way, you will get
to:
- Revenue Generation - Drive year-over-year (YoY) growth in: Microsoft Copilot sales, Azure Consumption Revenue (ACR), Microsoft A5 and security licensing, and Services attach revenue on customer engagements.
- Co-sell with IPS account executives to: Drive strategic customer conversations, lead business case creation for Insight-funded offerings, and execute client-facing engagements, including workshops, assessments, and events.
- Train and enable Insight sellers on Microsoft technologies and solution plays.
- Create and utilize sales collateral such as playbooks, battle cards, and win wires.
- Translate Microsoft solution plays (AI Copilot, Security, Data & AI, Azure Infrastructure, Modern Work) into actionable outcomes for education decision-makers.
- Track and execute sales plays using Microsoft propensity lists and unsolicited proposal guidance.
- Collaborate with the internal alliances team to: Maintain joint business plans, participate in QBRs with Microsoft stakeholders, drive programmatic cadences and co-sell motions with Microsoft EDU teams, and maintain a territory forecast while reporting key performance metrics to Insight and Microsoft Customer Licensing and Account Development.
- Support client licensing strategy and manage agreements.
- Ensure alignment with Microsoft contracts and funding programs.
What you’ll need to join Insight
- Experience: At least four years in a technology sales role, preferably in the Public Sector cloud sales, with a proven track record of surpassing sales quotas.
- A college education combined with four years of software experience or four years of related experience is required, along with experience managing Microsoft customers.
- Expertise: In-depth knowledge of software and cloud solutions across various platforms, including Microsoft 365, Microsoft on-premises Services, and Azure.
- Sales Skills: Strong consultative selling abilities, capable of effectively articulating return on investment (ROI) and negotiating complex deals.
- Knowledge of government contracts is mandatory.
- Must have a working understanding of Insight’s vision and software asset management strategy.
- Experience in successfully managing escalations from teammates and clients is required.
- Proven leadership experience is a plus.
