Accounts Payable Manager (Night Shift)

Position Overview

 

Manages an accounting staff of 4-5 Teammates responsible for accounting for all products returned to suppliers. 

 

What you’ll do at Insight

 

Staff Management - Responsible for managing staff of 4-5 Teammates, which includes:

 

    • Leads teammates and temporary staff, if any, to ensure completion of all work required of the team. 
    • Interviews, hires, develops, disciplines, rewards, and promotes teammates in consultation with senior management and Insight’s People and Development team. 
    • For each teammate, provides monthly performance reviews, drafts and presents performance improvement plans, completes the annual performance review, and provides other performance feedback. 
    • Consents to vacation and other time-off, supports teammate use of timesheet software, approves hours worked, enters missed hours and associated reason, and requires overtime when needed. 
    • Establishes and ensures staff compliance with minimum performance expectations, such as company policies, departmental procedures, and team processes. 
    • Oversees team training and day-to-day interactions within the team and with external contacts.  Ensures team provides support for Sales and other departments while maintaining appropriate financial controls and decisions.

 

Process Oversight - Responsible for accounting for all products returned to suppliers, as well as collecting related amounts due, which includes:

 

    • Recording product returned to a supplier and, where relevant, releasing related credit to Insight clients.
    • Filing any claim information as directed by the supplier and ensuring that all return receivables are claimed.
    • Receiving payment (credit memo or check), applying payment to clear receivables, and determining account adjustments as warranted.
    • Reviewing denial responses, re-filing disputed items, and determining account adjustments as warranted.
    • Researching unpaid receivables, contacting suppliers for payment, and collecting payment.
    • Analyzing records, generating reports, and presenting information regarding team functioning, accomplishments, and challenges. 
    • In consultation with senior management and other departments, developing new team procedures, department processes, and relevant company requirements to meet changing environment.

 

Direct Procedures - Required to assist directly with certain processes, including:

 

    • Work directly with suppliers and manufacturers such as to represent the company, present high priority items, correct errors, communicate company demands, learn about upcoming changes, or develop resolution or options.
    • Work with senior management as well as other company departments to support team and company goals, such as to respond to escalated items, address team issues, and communicate developing concerns.
    • Approve account adjustments exceeding certain dollar amounts.
    • Complete entries that are incomplete and correct errors when needed.

 

What you’ll need to join Insight

 

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Four years of management experience; four years of management education or training; or some combination thereof. 
  • Four years of previous accounting experience; four to five years of accounting education or training; or some combination thereof.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, technical procedures, and accounting entries.
  • Ability to write reports and/or business correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, and teammates.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the complex documents. 
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. 
  • Ability to make effective and/or persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to senior management, teammates, and others.
