Development Manager, AI Development 

About This Role 

The Development Manager leads Insight's AI Development team, a dedicated team of engineers, analysts, and designers responsible for delivering AI-powered solutions across Insight's lines of business. Unlike project-based consulting engagements, this team builds institutional knowledge and provides long-term development support for AI transformation initiatives — from intelligent automation and conversational AI to data-driven decision-making tools. The Development Manager is accountable for team performance, technical standards, career development, and day-to-day delivery across one or more concurrent projects.  

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead, mentor, and develop a cross-functional AI Development team; drive teammate satisfaction, career growth, and succession planning. 

• Oversee delivery of AI development projects, coordinating capacity across multiple concurrent initiatives. 

• Define and enforce technical standards for coding, testing, security, and deployment in alignment with enterprise architecture. 

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business requirements and timelines. 

• Manage team workload, resource allocation, and sprint commitments across projects. 

• Promote Agile best practices and continuous improvement within the team. 

• Provide regular status reporting and risk escalation to senior leadership. 

• Foster a culture of knowledge-sharing, documentation, and technical excellence.  

Qualifications 

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a people management or team lead role. 

• Technical Background: Working knowledge of cloud-based application development (Microsoft Azure preferred); familiarity with AI/ML concepts, Python, and modern web technologies. 

• Leadership: Proven ability to manage, motivate, and grow technical teams in a fast-paced, multi-project environment. 

• Agile: Strong experience working within Agile/Scrum frameworks; comfort managing sprint ceremonies and delivery cadences. 

• Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; ability to interface with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams. 

• Tools: Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent. 

• Nice to Have: Experience managing offshore or distributed teams; familiarity with AI development lifecycle or MLOps practices.
