Citrix Server Engineer

Position Overview

Our organization is seeking a Citrix Engineer with at least 7 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting Citrix VDI environments. The ideal candidate will also have experience in patching Citrix environments and staying on top of Citrix exploits. The Senior Citrix Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Citrix infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, and providing technical support to end-users. The Citrix Server Engineer will utilize Insight’s Support Services tools to deliver this service effectively.  Other functions of the role would include, but are not limited to mentoring first level technicians, leading internal and external projects, develop service deliverable initiatives, and process improvement opportunities.  This role is highly collaborative with all engineers and technicians in Support Services and interaction with Insight clients of this service. 

 

Requirements, Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, implement, and maintain Citrix VDI environments, including XenDesktop, XenServer, and NetScaler.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Citrix VDI applications and components.
  • Monitor and optimize Citrix VDI infrastructure performance, including server and application performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning.
  • Patch Citrix environments and stay on top of Citrix exploits to ensure the security of our systems.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including installation procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure that Citrix VDI environments are integrated with other systems and applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Citrix technologies and trends and make recommendations for improvements to our Citrix VDI infrastructure.
  • Incident troubleshooting and issue resolution in a multi-customer Managed Services Environment, with 24x7x365 coverage
  • Work extensively in our Service Now platform managing alerts, incidents, service requests and problems
  • Follow ITIL practices regarding incident, problem and change management.
  • Respond to, close, and resolve alerts within or exceeding defined SLA.
  • Creates and maintains and continually updates technical and process documentation
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and technical expertise to Services technicians.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • At least 7 years experience in designing, implementing, and supporting Citrix VDI environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Citrix VDI technologies, including XenDesktop, XenServer, and NetScaler.
  • Experience with patching Citrix environments and staying on top of Citrix exploits to ensure system security.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Citrix certifications (e.g., CCA-V, CCP-V, CCE-V) are a plus.
