BASIC FUNCTION

 

Position Overview

 

The Server/ Systems Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day administration and Incident management of our clients’ server infrastructure and remediation of issues as they are reported by our clients or Insight’s monitoring solution. The Server/ Systems Engineer will utilize Insight’s Support Services tools to deliver this service effectively. Other functions of the role would include, but are not limited to mentoring first level technicians, leading internal and external projects, develop service deliverable initiatives, and process improvement opportunities. This role is highly collaborative with all engineers and technicians in Support Services and interaction with Insight clients of this service. Expectation to work with data center, data protection, virtualization, networking, security, and storage technologies as well.

 

What you'll do at Insight

 

  • Incident troubleshooting and issue resolution in a multi-customer Managed Services Environment, with 24x7x365 coverage
  • Work extensively in our Service Now platform managing alerts, incidents, service requests and problems
  • Follow ITIL practices regarding incident, problem and change management
  • Respond to, close, and resolve alerts within or exceeding defined SLA
  • Collaborate with internal technical and non-technical teams, as well as customers’ technical and non-technical teams
  • Escalate to senior level analysts after initial triage and documentation of all steps performed
  • Co-ordinate with vendors to troubleshoot, repair, replace and regain functionality on hardware assets
  • Co-ordinate with Internet Service Providers when connectivity is degraded to/from customer site(s)
  • Creates and maintains and continually updates technical and process documentation
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and technical expertise to Services technicians

 

What you'll need to join Insight

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer engineering and other computer related studies, ECE or IT related field, from a four-year College or University
  • Windows Server OS 2012R2 - 2019 installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting
  • 5 years of experience in enterprise systems administration & operations support
  • 5 years demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues in, and manage a complete cloud infrastructure (Azure, Google, AWS) offering (compute, storage, network, Identity and access control, firewall and routing)
  • 5 years continual management, troubleshooting and configuration changes within an enterprise virtualization platform, VMWare vSphere (ESXi) configuration, management, and troubleshooting
  • 5 years of planning and managing backups and disaster recovery primarily in VEEAM and/or Commvault
