About the role
This role operates cross-functionally with Sales, Software Licensing Consultants (SLCs), Account Executives, Finance, Procurement, and Customers to ensure accurate processing, compliance, and delivery of value-driven licensing solutions.
The Software Licensing Operations Consultant serves as a subject matter expert in Microsoft volume licensing, with a strong focus on Microsoft programs and products. They work directly with clients and sales teams to understand licensing requirements, present appropriate solutions, and address customer queries.
Additionally, the SLC conducts detailed cost-benefit analyses of available products and programs, tailored to customer needs. As part of a cross-functional team spanning sales, operations, finance, and product management, the SLC delivers high-quality licensing support to Insight’s clients. Strong communication skills, creativity, and a commitment to continuous learning are critical to success in this role.
Along the way, you will get to:
- Act as a subject matter expert in Microsoft licensing, presenting information through emails, presentations, spreadsheets, and conference calls.
- Engage directly with clients and sales teams to understand requirements, support decision-making, and recommend tailored licensing solutions.
- Provide detailed cost-benefit analyses of licensing options to achieve optimal customer outcomes.
- Identify and support business opportunities, including renewals, true-ups, net new business, and upsell opportunities.
- Assist in closing business opportunities in partnership with Clients and Sales teams.
- Provide measurable data and reporting on key performance indicators, including renewal and true-up status.
- Assist in driving Microsoft agreement lifecycles (e.g., T-36) to maximise customer value.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of Microsoft Master Agreements, licensing programs, enrolment structures, and rules.
- Accurately process transactions against existing or new agreements.
- Utilise and maintain internal systems (e.g., ELD, Smart, SharePoint, VLC, MPSA), including troubleshooting data issues.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, attention to detail, and turnaround times in a fast-paced environment.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders including Sales, Finance, Procurement, Customer Support, and Management & collaborate with Product managers and Representatives for product awareness, and competitive positioning.
- Follow leadership direction and established processes to support successful business outcomes.
- Develop and maintain expertise in Microsoft products, programs, promotions, and the broader industry and competitive landscape.
- Stay current through ongoing learning, including manufacturer materials, webinars, and training sessions.
- Participate in relevant training and certification programs to enhance technical and commercial capabilities.
- Demonstrate willingness to support customer-facing portals and systems and continuously expand skillsets with evolving industry requirements.

What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, or evidence of role specific training.
- Minimum 3 years providing direct support for Microsoft Volume Licensing sales and support lifecycle.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Able to thrive in an environment characterized by rapidly changing requirements and an ongoing focus on meeting operational objectives.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Experience serving as a Subject Matter expert in a product or service.
- Ability to effectively present complex information and make it easy to understand.
- Ability to retain and utilize large amounts of licensing and process information.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to use Microsoft Excel (advanced usage), Outlook, Teams, SharePoint.
- Must have a drive to continually expand your knowledge and skillset.
- Must have, or be willing to achieve within 6 months of joining Insight, identified Microsoft Certifications (such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals).
- Amenable to work on a hybrid setup (1 day in the office, 4 days a week from home).

- Microsoft P-CE certification is a plus.
