Payroll Assistant (12 month fixed- term contract)

The Payroll Assistant administers and supports all payroll activities by ensuring each stage of the payroll process is properly adhered to, payments are accurately processed, and the appropriate information is cascaded to relevant parties (including the Human Resources team, retirement scheme providers, and governing bodies).
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the completion of monthly payrolls, ensuring all relevant data is efficiently and accurately captured.
- Prepare and input data into payroll systems in a timely and precise manner.
- Administer and calculate employee payments and deductions, including shift variations, overtime, on-call payments, maternity and paternity leave, expense claims, and other adjustments with appropriate authorization.
- Carry out all statutory and regulatory monthly and annual/end-of-year (EOY) returns, ensuring timely communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure payroll processes and systems are functioning effectively.
- Proactively identify and report potential risks or issues to the Payroll Manager or appropriate team members.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Payroll qualification or relevant certification is a plus.
- Proven experience handling large payrolls.
- Strong focus on service performance and accuracy.
- High level of proficiency in both written and spoken English.
- Fully proficient with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Advanced numeracy skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels.
- Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent work experience.
- Solid working knowledge of computerized payroll systems.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
