The Senior Manager of Financial Accounting is responsible for leading the North America general ledger (US and Canada) teams, providing strategic direction and oversight of the North America general ledger close and consolidation processes.  Responsibilities include ensuring the propriety of accounting for the North America operations regarding various areas within the financial statements, general ledger close and consolidation in month end financial statement preparation. The Senior Manager of Financial Accounting manages the accounting for operating expenses, reviews and provides input in the flow of revenue, inventory and cost of goods sold, performs the consolidation for the North American reporting entity. The Senior Manager of Financial Accounting is also responsible for the integrity of the balance sheet close and reconciliation processes and integrity of the close the books internal controls. This position will be supervised by the Vice President, North America Controller, and will liaise with various departments across the business.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Lead the general ledger financial accounting and consolidation for North America and assist in necessary coordination with other geographies.
  • Ensure month and quarter end closing schedules are maintained.
  • Manage fluctuation review and analysis.
  • Collaborate internally to address significant non-standard transactions.
  • Work with internal and external auditors, as required, regarding compliance with SOX 404 requirements.
  • Identify process improvements, develop/document solutions for improvements and drive execution of the improvements.
  • Assist with system change requirements and testing.
  • Assist with confidential matters relating to accounting and reporting and other Company matters.
  • Assist with acquisition-related procedures and integration efforts.
  • Ensure documented standard operating procedures.
  • Recruit, hire and develop management and extended US and international teams.
  • Provide guidance and training assistance to employees by understanding individual teammate’s professional goals, to help them achieve high levels of success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with an exceptional attention to detail.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    Education and/or Experience:
    Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university. The successful candidate will need to have considerable US GAAP and general ledger accounting, as well as ERP expertise.  Minimum professional accounting experience of 10+ years total, with 4-6 minimum years of public company/public accounting manager experience. CPA required.

  • US GAAP general ledger close process expertise.
  • Knowledge of the financial statement process, including proper policies and procedures.
  • Effective leadership skills with strategic focus, the ability to build and develop strong teams and provide overall team vision and direction.
  • Passion for process and system improvement.
  • Deep prior ERP and financial close systems experience.  SAP and BPC skills a plus.
  • Polished professional with executive presence who is comfortable interacting with all levels of internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a professional and effective way.
  • Ability to respond to questions from executives and other teammates in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to analyze data to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
  • Strong collaborator cross-functionally and ability to resolve and escalate issues with a wide range of personalities.
  • Strong project management skills culminating in timely, effective results.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in gathering knowledge, problem solving and getting things completed.
  • Self-driven, motivated and results-oriented.
  • Remains calm under pressure.
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; key board and 10-key skills.
