The Marketing team serves as the face of Insight, promoting and supporting the company’s business strategy through a coordinated communications approach. Marketing teammates develop critical connections with both clients and vendor partners, with a view to creating long-lasting relationships.  The Marketing team also plays a key role in defining compelling value propositions, as well as executing promotional activity, in order to generate brand awareness and drive demand for Insight’s solutions and services.

 

The Brand & Communications team, a key part of the Marketing function, plays a pivotal role in driving brand reputation and generating awareness and demand for Insight’s solutions and services. This is achieved through expert design and comprehensive internal and external communications including PR and social media. The team works across the full marketing mix; it supports campaigns with high-quality social, PR, and design content, promotes and designs virtual and face-to-face events, and constructs communications which amplify Insight’s reputation across the globe, building brand trust and loyalty.

 

The Public Relations Manager, under the guidance of the Senior Manager Brand & Communications, is responsible for building upon Insight’s brand and communicating it in a way that drives strategic awareness, interest, and engagement. The Public Relations Manager supports the development and delivery of Insight’s communications strategy by creating comprehensive PR plans, produces high quality, engaging corporate communications content across multiple channels for a variety of internal and external audiences, and builds and maintains contacts across the media, industry, and stakeholders. The Public Relations Manager works to ensure that key messages and information are communicated clearly, and also manage crisis communications by identifying the source of the crisis and creating appropriate responses to reduce or eliminate potential unfavourable publicity. 

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Manager Brand & Communications with the overall EMEA Public Relations (PR) strategy. 
  • Oversee Insight’s PR content development and campaign delivery, and also ensure content is readily available to be utilised across EMEA. 
  • Write comprehensive news stories, and in conjunction with the Senior Manager Brand & Communications, approve any external press releases that relate to Insight. 
  • Deliver a rolling plan of proactive PR aligned to organisational priorities, with a focus on longlead features, news hijacks, and stories aimed at national, technology, and or consumer media. 
  • Develop and produce high-quality, informative, and interesting press releases, press kits, and related materials. 
  • Generate stories and publicity that promote the organisation.        
  • Ensure the newsroom page is up-to-date and accurate, and consider innovative and exciting ways to repurpose campaign content for PR. 
  • Organise media launches and opportunities to maximise the public relations opportunities of service launches, events, and conferences in order to make them newsworthy.
  • Partner with external stakeholders such as partners and clients, as well as internal stakeholders such as Designers, Digital Marketing, Partner Marketing, and the wider Marketing team in order to ensure all PR activity is connected and intertwined with their activity.
  • Liaise with and advise senior management on matters relating to publicity, media relations, and advocacy.
  • Build upon your own existing media contacts and develop positive relationships with the media to ensure that the work of Insight is considered to be of ongoing interest, relevance, and importance, and is worthy of regular coverage.
  • Liaise with the Social Media Manager to amplify coverage and Insight news stories. 
  • Ensure regular monitoring of media channels including the use of social listening tools to anticipate and respond to trending stories and opportunities.
  • Evaluate PR coverage by documenting wins, consider audience size and sentiment, and produce a quarterly dashboard of coverage. 
  • Work closely with EMEA counterparts to capture overarching EMEA coverage. 
  • Manage Insight’s awards; from entries, submissions, internal and external marketing, and consider pricing and detailing recommendations.
  • Assist the Senior Manager Brand & Communications with written communications, internally and externally facing.

Key skills and experience required:

 

  • Educated to degree level or can demonstrate equivalent work experience 
  • Holds a professional degree in Public Relations, Media Communications, or a related field
  • High level of written and spoken English
  • Resilient, tenacious and outcome focussed
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • A self-starter, not afraid to think out of the box and find ways to hijack the news agenda
  • Previous working experience in either PR or journalism, with a focus on technology 
  • Previously worked as an established technical journalist or in technical PR background
  • Strong creative copywriting and proofing skills with an adaptive style that has impact online and in print
  • An ability to develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with partner organisations
  • The ability to take complex information and turn it into accessible communications for wider audiences
  • Has existing credible media relationships and an affinity for building positive and supportive rapport with journalists
  • A confident, outward-looking, proactive communicator, demonstrates experiencing of pitching to and securing press coverage across national, consumer and trade publications
  • A sound understanding of the processes, procedures, and issues relevant to one’s own role, ranging from in depth job knowledge, to an appreciation of the complex internal and external business issues and trends
  • Owns a brimming media contacts book and feels extremely comfortable pitching stories to media
  • A desire to learn more, develop professionally,
  • and stay up to date with new technologies and advancements
  • A sharp news sense, a solid understanding of how the media works, and the ability to create and tailor content for a variety of print/digital and broadcast outlets
  • A strong storyteller, self-motivated, and confident with both creative and technical abilities, able to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure and to tight timescales
