Senior Compute/Server Engineer

Our Insight Cloud+Data Center Transformation team is searching for an experienced, passionate, and professional Senior Server Engineer to join our team.

Within Insight’s CDCT division, your primary role will be as a Senior Server Engineer on diverse and challenging customer projects. You will be responsible for the implementation and escalation support for a wide variety of technologies, joining a team of Network and Server engineers all focused on delivering best in class experiences to our clients. 
What you’ll do at Insight:

•    Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot client server infrastructure across a wide variety of environments and deployment models.
•    Use remote monitoring tools and protocol analyzers to troubleshoot, diagnose and solve escalated incidents with client infrastructure.
•    Perform advanced, complex system analysis, identify problems and design solutions.
•    Recommend enhancements to system that will improve the quality, performance, security, and reliability of the solution.
•    Creates and maintains documentation of managed environment systems and assist with creating processes to empower first level techs to respond to more situations.
•    Follows project methodologies to complete assigned tasks.
•    Provides technical expertise to others as necessary, including instructing field personnel in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
•    Provision new systems for client usage.
•    Create implementation, validation, and backout procedures for planned changes.
•    Handle day-to-day server related Incidents, Problems, Requests, and Changes.
•    Interact directly with client IT staff to support and discuss managed environments.
•    Engineer will be part of on-call rotation and perform after hours work as needed.

What you’ll need to join Insight:

•    Degree in Computer/Information Science, technical college, or equivalent work experience
5+ years experience working as a Server Engineer preferred.
•    Must have VMware, Windows Server, and RedHat Linux experience. 
•    Applicant must currently have in good standing one professional level technical certification; expert level certification is a plus.
•    Nutanix, Cisco UCS, and Azure experience all desired.
•    Familiarity with automating or scripting tasks is a plus (Powershell, Bash/Cron, Ansible, etc)
•    Demonstrated understanding of server technologies and best practices.
•    Experience implementing and maintaining servers in a mixed deployment environment.
•    Strong ability and focus on troubleshooting and resolution.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•    Ability to collaborate and work effectively in partnership with others.
•    Very strong customer service orientation.
•    Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
•    Eagerness to learn and continually expand on skillset.
•    Must have the ability to self-manage and work independently.
