Senior Consultant - Cloud & DataCenter Transformation

The EMEA Services Delivery function is responsible for delivering professional and managed services to our clients across a full range of technology and software offerings, delivering a scaled, consistent client experience and methodology through four centres of excellence (COE). The Service Design & Delivery team take the lead on designing client solutions in partnership with our clients before planning and executing the end-to-end engagement. The Engineering team provide innovative migration and implementation activities both automated and scripted, to achieve maximum efficiency, consistency, and performance. The Customer Operations team provide high-quality customer support across the region from multiple delivery centres. The Licence Consulting team provide expertise in optimisation and compliance services to clients on-premise or in the cloud, maintaining cost efficiency and savings. Complementing our COE’s are the Service Delivery Management team. Located in every country, they manage the client experience to ensure a truly client-centric approach across EMEA. 


The Senior Consultant – Cloud & Datacenter Transformation resides within the Service Design & Delivery area of the EMEA Services function and, specifically, within the Consultancy team. The Senior Consultant – Cloud & Datacenter Transformation is responsible for providing expert consultancy to clients, owning transformation projects from initial client assessment through to successful completion and partnering with Insight and client teams to carefully scope and propose the most suitable, strategic solution for each client. 


The senior consultant is a subject matter expert in DataCenter technologies and is responsible for the scoping, design, deployment, service delivery and adoption of the latest DataCenter technologies into clients across EMEA. The senior consultant is regarded as an industry expert; demonstrated by speaking at conferences, vendor events and through their publishing of white papers and thought leadership material. 


In addition, the senior consultant is expected to identif y customer and market requirements for standardised solutions. They advise clients on how to accelerate core business and optimise IT utilising innovative offerings, developed packaged service architectures, messaging, and the delivery of solutions, with a focus on market development and operational excellence. The Senior Consultant defines the standards in which Insight’s solutions are implemented and documented accordingly. 





  • Teach, train, coach, and mentor teammates; promoting teammate satisfaction and enabling career progression. 

  • Support teammates with issues and help them to identify creative solutions to sometimes complex challenges. 

  • Manage larger and/ or more complex projects and delivery with a high degree of efficiency, autonomy, and performance. 

  • Attend and/ or present at external events and demonstrates expertise through thought leadership pieces, to represent Insight in the marketplace as a solution and services provider of choice. 

  • Engage in the pre-sale cycle and provide consultancy, including audits and 

  • assessments to support the sales team in their proposals. 

  • Own the delivery of IT related projects to clients, accountable for ensuring defined service revenue and utilisation targets are met, and the delivery of anticipated client outcome. 

  • Responsible for the customisation and configuration of client services offerings. 

  • Design, build and configure solutions to address client needs and business drivers, ensuring they meet or exceed expectations. 

  • Work closely with the Solution Sales Specialists to present intelligent end-to-end solutions offerings based on the clients specified requirements. 

  • To participate in workshops, client meetings, and calls to provide technical expertise in relation to Insight’s proposals, demonstrating credibility and inspiring confidence with clients. 

  • To design and configure Insight’s solutions according to client requests, mapping requirements and ensuring the most suitable configuration. 

  • To create statements of work in line with configuration/customisation needs required for each client. 

  • To prepare and present client demonstrations and provide training on this matter. 

  • Participate in knowledge sharing activities as required, supporting a culture of sharing and learning. 


In addition, this role may be responsible for managing a team of no more than 5 consultants. The additional duties would include: 


  • Manage and motivate the team, to promote teammate satisf action through mentoring, development, and career planning; creating a high performing team with a strong succession benchmark, enabling career progression. 

  • Responsible for the day- to- day operation of the Consulting Services business, managing profitable growth and ensuring a high utilisation of the team. 

  • Ensure the team hold the right competencies and knowledge to achieve and maintain vendor certifications, whilst balancing utilisation requirements.

- Educated to degree level or can demonstrate equivalent work experience  

- High level of written and spoken English 

- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)  

- Ability to provide effective leadership, build positive team spirit and inspire, motivate, and support teammates 

- Has experience delivering successful projects with clients who demand the highest standards 

- Has experienced with working on multiple projects at the same time working to challenging deadlines 

- Extensive experience performing billable consulting work or consultative sales within the target Practice area or equivalent experience with consulting services management 

- Has experience of developing accurate and concise project documentation that will be used by colleagues and clients 

- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business requirements to SOW and implementation plans 

- Exhibits a strong communication/ presentation style with the maturity to be able to adjust their style to get the best from the situation 

- Excellent communication and influencing skills including negotiating and contracting 

- Demonstrates a flexible approach to working 

- MCSA Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate and/or MCITP Microsoft Certified IT Professional 

- Holds formal technical qualifications and/or demonstrates significant working experience in the following: 

  • Microsoft Azure, VMWare, or AWS Cloud Services 
  • Designing and deploying Microsoft, VMWare, or AWS private/public/hybrid clouds 

  • Working with Infrastructure as Code and Desired State Configuration 

  • Designing Azure access methods including PowerShell, REST, JSON, and the web portal 

  • Working with Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Resource Manager, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Virtual Networks, and Azure Storage Technologies 

  • Designing and implementing large complex Microsoft Hyper-V high- availability clusters and System Center Virtual Machine Manager 

  • Designing and implementing System Centre, Operations Management Suite, and Azure Automation Services 

  • Designing and performing large virtualization and cloud migration projects 

  • Designing and performing large physical-to-virtual (P2V) and virtual- to-virtual (V2V) migrations involving multiple platforms and operating 

  • systems 





The position is based in Netherlands, main offices are located in Amsterdam and Apeldoorn. Possibility for hybrid working, remote with occasional visits to the office and client sites.
