Cable Technician

The role involves installing and terminating fiber optic communications systems, installing structured ethernet cable, mounting wireless access points, outdoor bridges, and cameras, installing EMT conduit for network infrastructure and hardware, racking and stacking network switches and UPS equipment, troubleshooting intercom and telecommunications systems, managing inventory of hardware and materials, creating detailed as-built drawings of cable infrastructure, and performing warehouse duties, including forklift operation. The ideal candidate should have experience in these areas and be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install structured ethernet cable Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, and Coax RG6 and RG11 cable.
    Mount wireless access points, wireless outdoor bridges, and cameras.
  • Install EMT conduit for network infrastructure and hardware.
  • Rack and stack network switches and UPS equipment.
  • Replace network racks as required.
  • Troubleshoot intercom and telecommunications systems as needed.
  • Manage inventory of hardware and materials.
  • Create detailed as-built drawings of cable infrastructure.
  • Perform warehouse duties, including forklift operation.

What you’ll need to succeed
 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; certificate or associate degree in network systems, communication technology, or related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in installing and maintaining network infrastructure and hardware.
  • Experience in mounting wireless access points, bridges, and cameras.
  • Knowledge of network racks, switches, and UPS equipment installation.
  • Ability to install and terminate structured ethernet cable, Coax RG6 and RG11 cable, and fiber optic communications systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting intercom and telecommunications systems.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management.
  • Ability to create detailed as-built drawings of cable infrastructure.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
