The SAM Consultant is an expert in software asset management, helping businesses maximize their investments and achieve compliance. They work closely with Insight Sales to understand customers' needs and recommend appropriate solutions, from SAM workshops to license assessments and reconciliation projects. The SAM Consultant is skilled at engaging senior management, delivering solutions, and responding to RFPs. They also play a key role in developing new offers, documenting processes, and creating sales and marketing materials. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert responses to SAM questions from Insight Sales and their customers.
- Participate and lead customer SAM meetings (conference call and on-site).
- Complete and deliver license SAM SOW to customers.
- Deliver SAM solutions (described above).
- Participate in developing new offers, documenting processes, developing marketing strategies, and developing training presentations and materials.
- Travel required for this role will be up to 20% in compliance with Insight’s travel policy.
- Meet SAM Consultant Team revenue goals.
- Complete SAM certifications as instructed by Manager. Keep up-to-date with SAM industry trends and developments, and competitors’ SAM offers and strategies.
What you’ll need to succeed
- College degree in business or related function.
- Minimum of 5 years software industry and SAM/licensing experience is required.
- SAM and software licensing knowledge is required
- The willingness and ability to self-learn much of the software licensing information that will be necessary to serve as a resource for Insight Account Executives is required.
- Excellent oral and interpersonal skills are a must.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills are also desired.
- In addition, knowledge of the sales process combined with the ability to establish and maintain rapport with both internal and external customers and executives is needed.
- The SAM Consultant must understand the company objectives and possess the ability to make decisions and undertake actions that balance customer needs with available license management solutions and company policies.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from sales associates, sales managers and customers.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must and proven telephone skills are required.
- Intermediate Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.
- The new SAM Consultant will be expected to be up-to-speed on Insight SAM policies and process within 90 days of hire. The SAM Consultant will also be required to obtain specific SAM and licensing certifications which may require studying on the employee’s own time.
