The Principal Data Architect will play a critical role defining and, in collaboration with key stakeholders, implementing Insight’s global data governance policies, procedures and infrastructure.  A cornerstone of Insight’s IT transformation in the coming years, the Principal Data Architect will create relationships across the enterprise to help align data architecture and infrastructure to business strategies and priorities, delivering impactful outcomes. This leader will work closely with business partners, stakeholders, and the data governance team to create a data architecture roadmap that supports Insight’s ambition to be the leading Solutions Integrator.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Define and design the data architecture for the enterprise, including responsibility for leading the development of data models, data dictionaries, metadata management, data lineage, data quality and data governance processes
• Work closely with business and IT stakeholders to define the data architecture vision, strategy, principles, and standards
• Design and implement data solutions that meet business needs while ensuring scalability, reliability, security and performance
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of data assets, data flows, and data redundancies across the enterprise
• Develop and maintain a data architecture roadmap that aligns with business priorities and technology strategy
• Lead the identification and evaluation of new technologies and solutions to support data architecture goals and objectives
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to develop data integration and migration strategies and ensure successful implementation with minimal disruption
• Provide expert guidance and support to data architects, developers, and other IT teams on data architecture best practices, standards, and governance practices
• Establish and enforce data quality standards and policies across the enterprise


  

 

What you’ll need to succeed

 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in data architecture with at least 5 years in a leadership role
• Strong experience in designing and implementing data & technology architecture solutions for large-scale, complex environments
• Demonstrated success architecting data solutions on premise and in hybrid cloud environments
• Strong background in data-related technologies such as ETL, data warehousing, data governance, data quality tools, and metadata management

Demonstrated success leading large-scale data lakes & enterprise data warehousing (EDW) projects using on-premises and cloud native data warehousing solutions such as Redshift & Snowflake
• Understanding of data privacy, data security, and regulatory compliance frameworks such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.

Data services and consumption archetypes including semantic layers, BI tools and AI&ML
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
