About the Role

Leadership: The manager for this role is Mat Harrington. Mat is based in Sydney and leads the payroll function.

 

As a Payroll Specialist, you will deliver accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services across the Asia-Pacific region. You'll manage payroll processing, records, reporting, and reconciliations while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with local legislation. This role partners with People & Culture, Finance, Leaders, and external providers to resolve payroll queries and identify process improvements.

Along the way, you will get to:

  • Process and validate payroll accurately across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and China
  • Maintain payroll records, timekeeping data, leave records, and employee benefit information
  • Administer superannuation, health insurance, commissions, bonuses, and employee benefits
  • Reconcile payroll, payroll tax, insurance, and superannuation payments
  • Support compliance with payroll legislation, taxation, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Prepare payroll reports and support month-end, year-end, and audit reporting
  • Provide responsive payroll support to teammates, leaders, and external providers
  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes, controls, and automation

 

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years of end-to-end payroll experience in complex, multi-country environments (preferably APAC)
  • Current or recent experience with Access Payroll/MicrOpay systems
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory obligations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with payroll validation, gross-to-net calculations, and quality assurance reviews
  • Advanced Excel skills including data analysis, pivot tables, and large dataset validation
  • Ability to manage multiple payroll cycles across countries and time zones
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting Workday implementation and payroll transformation projects
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll providers across APAC
  • Knowledge of payroll journals, general ledger reconciliations, and finance processes
  • Experience with payroll process improvements and system enhancements
  • Experience in matrix, regional, or shared services environments
