Facilities Lead Technician

The Facilities Lead Technician is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Maintenance Technician team.  Develops strategy and implements objectives with the Manager, Facilities, in accordance with the organization's policies and local applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

 

What you’ll do at Insight
•    Oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician team by ensuring all requests and tasks are handled timely and appropriately. 
•    Monitor and provide feedback to the Manager, Facilities on the day-to-day performance of the Maintenance Technician team 
•    Provide escalation direction and/or assistance to Maintenance Technicians
•    Act as the first point of contact for teammates and/or clients during the manager’s absence
•    Provide a safe and secure working environment for our teammates
•    Ability to analyze, diagnose, evaluate and recommend / perform repairs to building components & equipment, including chillers/cooling towers, BMS and water treatment, where applicable 
•    Prevent / Minimize any facilities related disruptions / inconveniences to the operation of the business units / building infrastructure  
•    Perform preventive and routine maintenance to equipment, systems and building components
•    Performs a variety of tasks in an office and warehouse environment as directed by the Manager, Facilities 
•    Manual dexterity to operate hand and power tools, operate equipment and machinery, work from ladders, scaffolding or platforms, working in various temperatures and conditions and lifting heavy objects
•    Completes building projects and work requests as directed.  Creates, maintains and distributes Time & Action Plans as directed by management
•    Ability to read and interpret construction documents and plans
•    Coordinate specific work repairs or activities with outside contractors / vendors
•    Diagnosis and emergency repair to HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, paging system, locks, doors, machines, and mechanical yard equipment, where applicable.
•    General building maintenance, and other departmental functions and projects as directed
•    Maintains physical appearance of local facilities by performing such tasks as patching, painting, upgrading building components, etc.
•    Perform furniture and modular workstation installations, configurations and relocations
•    Prepares monthly occupancy reports for facilities as directed by Management

 

 

What you’ll need to join Insight
•    Minimum high school graduate or general education degree (GED), trade school graduate preferred plus three to five years “hands on” experience in commercial facility / physical plant / mechanical yard operations (chillers, water towers, Building Management System (BMS), where applicable 

•    Certification or Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in the Facilities, Engineering, Architectural disciplines a plus.  
•    Lead by example. Must be able to showcase professionalism, a high degree of confidentiality, quality customer service skills and leadership acumen
•    Strong organization skills. Must have the ability to prioritize impromptu work assignments, manage multiple conflicting tasks within a fast paced work environment and uses efficient work methods and tools to get the job done
•    Extremely high level of detail and accuracy in all aspects of the job
•    Results driven and ability to resolve conflict is a must 
•    Strong communicator both written and verbal
•    Ability to work in and lead in a collaborative and team-oriented culture 
•    Strong knowledge of all building systems, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, HVAC, hydraulic lifts / elevators, computer network cabling, furniture systems, standby generators, transfer switches and uninterruptible power supply units (UPS)
•    Familiarity with building / life safety codes and safe workplace practices
•    Computer literate with working knowledge Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Visio.  Working knowledge of AutoCad a plus
•    Excellent organizational, verbal & written communication skills
