Cloud Platform Engineer

Yerevan, AM

Join SADA, an Insight Company as a Cloud Platform Engineer!

Your Mission

#Hungry is at the foundation of all our engineering. Our motivation is to provide customers with an exceptional experience in migrating, developing, modernizing, and operationalizing their systems in Google Cloud Platform.

Your success starts by positively impacting the direction of a fast-growing practice with vision and passion. You will be measured bi-yearly by the breadth, magnitude, and quality of your contributions, your ability to estimate accurately, customer feedback at the close of projects, how well you collaborate with your peers, and the consultative polish you bring to customer interactions.

As you continue to execute successfully, we will build a customized development plan together that leads you through the engineering or management growth tracks.

Expectations

Communication - Can articulate an issue concisely, can weigh the pros and cons, and can advocate a position based on reasoned argument.

Work Timings - This role requires availability for evening calls when necessary to support cross-timezone collaboration, address urgent project requirements, or attend scheduled evening team meetings.

Required Travel - 5-10% travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events.

Customer Facing - You will interact with customers on a regular basis, sometimes daily, other times weekly/bi-weekly. Common touchpoints occur when qualifying potential opportunities, at project kickoff, throughout the engagement as progress is communicated, and at project close. You can expect to interact with a range of customer stakeholders, including engineers, technical project managers, and executives.
Onboarding/Training - The first several weeks of onboarding are dedicated to learning and will encompass learning materials/assignments and compliance training, as well as meetings with relevant individuals. Details of the timeline are shared closer to the start date.

Job Requirements

Required Credentials:

  • Google Cloud Architect Certified or able to complete within the first 45 days of employment.
    Required Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with networking fundamentals (DNS, BGP, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers) and compute infrastructure — including servers, relational and NoSQL databases — in virtualized or cloud-native environments. Must include real production-grade system design, delivery, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-tiered workload migrations from on-premises or alternative clouds to Google Cloud Platform — including infrastructure provisioning, data migration, cutover planning, and rollback strategy — with a focus on minimizing downtime and service disruption.
  • Proficiency delivering immutable infrastructure-as-code using Terraform as the primary tool. Familiarity with complementary configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Salt) and image-baking tools like Packer is a plus.
  • Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines using deployment strategies such as blue/green, canary, and rolling updates. Familiarity with tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent; GCP-native pipelines (Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy) strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills — ability to present technical solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders, manage expectations, facilitate workshops, and contribute to scoping and discovery discussions.

Job Responsibilities

  • The Employee shall deliver high-quality infrastructure projects on Google Cloud Platform for the Employer’s cloud and hybrid-cloud customers.
  • Assess existing on-premises or multi-cloud customer environments, produce migration wave plans, and execute cutovers with defined rollback procedures and minimal business disruption.
  • Operate across a spectrum of engagement types — from technical advisory and architecture reviews to deep hands-on implementation — spanning workload migrations, hybrid-cloud integrations, IaC environment automation, and fully automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • The Employee will have the opportunity to provide thought leadership, delivering best practice recommendations.
  • The Employee shall have extensive experience working with cloud technologies, have technical depth, and enjoy working with customers.
  • The Employee shall contribute design and implementation components for multiple projects.
  • The Employee shall participate in client-facing discussions in their areas of expertise.
  • If necessary, Employee, based on the assignment of the Employer and his immediate supervisor, may perform other tasks related to their working position.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing through internal documentation, peer code/design reviews, and participation in community of practice sessions.

Useful Qualifications:

  • Experience with systems observability: monitoring (Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Datadog), alerting, SLO/SLA definition, capacity planning, and performance tuning in distributed systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and the ability to apply trends to architectural needs.
  • Proven experience and understanding of architecture principles across infrastructure platforms, security, data, integration, and application layers.
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, GKE) and containerization (Docker) — including workload packaging, Helm chart management, and cluster operations in production environments.
  • Linux systems administration experience across distributions (Debian/Ubuntu, RHEL/CentOS, or similar) including performance troubleshooting, hardening, and scripting (Bash, Python).
  • Experience with information security practices and procedures
  • Familiarity with hypervisor technologies (VMware vSphere, KVM, Xen, Hyper-V) relevant to on-premises workload assessment and migration lift-and-shift planning.
