Job Summary
This role in the Service Transition Group is responsible for the setup of monitoring and management services to enable the Managed Services Solutions organization to effectively deliver managed services to Insight’s clients. Supporting the assigned Transition Manager, this role will work with Insight’s Sales and Architecture teams to understand the overall solution and services being delivered, focusing on the technology to formulate the requirements and plan to transition a client’s devices or services to Managed Services, which include, but are not limited to, Managed Infrastructure, Managed Security, and Insight Cloud 360 Support Services.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with various teams, including Managed Services, Engineering Services, and Professional Services, Consulting Services, Architecture, and Sales
- Review Statements of Work and Change Requests and provide feedback to team
- Evaluate a client’s technology to determine service readiness and supportability that will lead to a recommended service setup
- Facilitate technical workshops with client engineers and leadership to collect and share information, gain familiarity with the clients environment and their use of the technology to be managed
- Configure monitoring and alerting for the technology and services transitioning to managed services
- Troubleshoot, test, and resolve issues that may hinder service setup
- Prepare and validate collected technical data for configurable item creation in the CMDB.
- Create knowledge for transitioned devices and services to provide familiarity of a client’s technology and services to the delivery teams.
- Provide regular updates to the Transition Manager and your team to enable effective communications
Key Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field or equivalent years of experience
- 8-10 years’ experience working in an IT engineering role
- Familiarity with configuring SNMPv2 and SNMPv3 polling and traps. Able to perform SNMP walk of MIBS
- Working knowledge of Firewalls, Switches, Routers, Wireless Access Points, Wireless LAN Controllers, and SDWAN devices
- Working knowledge of VMware (Microsoft Hyper-V, a plus)
- Working knowledge of and experience with Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory
- Understanding of enterprise class storage (NetApp, Pure, Isilon, Cohesity, Dell/EMC, HP/3Par)
- PowerShell and/or scripting experience
- Experience with Cisco Unified Communications, Cisco WebEx, Unity, Presence, and other collaboration solutions is a plus
- Understanding of ITIL and IT Service Management (ITIL Cert, a plus)
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work.
